One silly peeve that I used to check for when I worked in HR, was if the socks matched... You would be shocked at the men who would wear WHITE SPORT SOCKS with dress attire...

I just wanted to scoop them up and have a chat with them!!!

BB,
What is the position you are after?
Working in the Corp HQ, or a regional or local office?

What do most people, in your biz, at the level of position
you are going after, wear on daily basis?
mD

Maybe one of the watch aficionados can lend him one?

Or skip the watch all together, just don't wear a cheap rubber watch.

Personally, i've never worn a "suite", a nice Italian 2 bedroom fits me nicely though.

1) Blue or Black suit
2) Conservative tie
3) NO white socks
4) Bring lots of resume (you never know how many your going to talk to - know what's in the resume)
5) A portfolio and pen (people always forget a pen)

That's about it and GL!

I've hired one person in my lifetime who was in a suit at an interview and that was ONLY because of his resume, nothing to do with his attire. Now that said, had he showed up in running-pants and a t-shirt, I wouldn't have talked to him because IMO he wasn't taking the meeting seriously.

You've never gone on an interview in NYC then....

in NYC, suits are the rule. no exceptions. no suit, you don't get past the recruiter.
