Firmware upgrade / no port

My unit doesn't have the port for the Firmware upgrade.

Do I have to send it in for the upgrade?

Thanks for your continued support on this.

My mistake, I was referring to the MediaBridge module. Firmware cannot be upgraded on the SILVERLINE PRO modules by the end user.

Smart Mode DIP switches are UP UP UP DOWN positions, we prefer to use the DISC6/TRACK4 setting on Business CD equipped X5s. Be sure to press CD1 afterwards to exit text selection mode.

DICE and Text Issue Closure

For the benefit of anyone following the last few replies in regards to my 2001 X5 w/ NAV not getting Text Display AND having iPOD control, here is the reason:

Tom thought my module was the DICE Silverline Pro- mine is just the Silverline and does NOT have SMART MODE, the ability to have iPOD control AND Text Display at the same time.

With my DICE Module, the only way to get TEXT display is to put all the dip switches in the UP or OFF position, select CD6/Track5 or Track6, then press CD1 to exit Text Selection Mode. Note that you will not be able to control the iPOD from the iPOD w/ this setup. The iPOD screen will say OK To Disconnect. IMO, this makes it too hard to navigate the iPOD songs.

The solution? Buy the $99 Silverline Pro module. I'll pass, not that important to me.

Resetting iPod

Tom, I have a question I hope you can help me with.

I have a 120GB iPod Classic (6th gen) and a 30GB iPod photo, and have noticed that when I am using the older iPod with the DICE unit it does not lose its place when my car is turned off. If I am listening to a podcast, for example, and turn off the car - when I turn it back on the podcast begins playing from where it left off.

On the other hand, when I use the newer iPod every time the car is turned off the DICE unit resets (the display just reads "STOPPED") and I have to start all over again to navigate back to the song/podcast I was listening to before the car was turned off. Is this normal behavior with the newer iPods or am I doing something wrong? It's very annoying, as I tend to get in and out of car a lot and with the newer iPod I can never pick up where I left off.

Thanks for your help!

Unfortunately, I don't listen much to podcasts in order to help in this department. I would recommend contacting DICE directly and speaking with one of their technicians for a possible solution.

Thanks Tom. Podcasts are only an example - this happens with music or any playlist. I didn't mean to limit the issue to podcasts. The problem is, no matter what I'm listening to, once I turn the car off and turn it back on the iPod is reset to "STOPPED" each time. Is this normal behavior - have you ever heard of this?

This is normal.

The STOPPED message appears at the end of a playlist or particular browsing method, awaiting your next command. If your podcasts were chosen by example - from a Playlist, it would simply move onto the next podcast.

Thanks Tom. One last question on this just so I am clear. Even if I am in the middle of listening to a song, when I turn off the car and then turn the car back on it does NOT continue playing the song from where I left off, it instead reads "STOPPED" and as far as I can tell there is no way to get back to the middle of that song. My older iPod does not do this - it "remembers" that I was in the middle of a song, and when I turn the car off in the middle of a song and then turn the car back on again, the iPod begins playing right where I left it off. This is normal conduct for the newer iPods?

DICE would have an accurate answer to this as it pertains to the programming of the modules, not installation.

I would recommend contacting DICE to speak directly with a technician on your issue, DICE can be contacted at 888.342.3999 or by email at [email protected].
