Hey gang, this worked for me...on advice of my attorney....when you get a speeding ticket, particularly in the San Fernando Valley, request at the time the cop is writing the ticket that he put in writing on the ticket "Move to County Seat." In my case, the "County Seat" is Downtown LA...few Valley or Simi cops are going to travel to Downtown for an appearance...(well, it least it's alot more likely he won't show)...at your initial hearing, remind the commish that you have requested transfer of the hearing to your County Seat...he/she is required by law to do so if requested...Well, long story short, ticket dismissed at the county seat courthouse 'cause Mr. Valley cop didn't show...My Atty says this will happen 75% of the time...pretty good odds to take a chance at beating a moving violation and a nice fine that goes with it....

I was told if possible schedule your hearing and then reschedule it at the latest time possible...hopefully your buddy will forget and not pay attention to the date change.

A couple of things from my past.

1. I've used ticket assassin. Didn't work for me. Beverly Hills police/Beverly Hills court house. Officer was all over my ticket. I was kinda f*cked though on that, we spent some time talking about my radar detector and how it didn't "work." Believe me, he wasn't going to forget me.

Also see if there are any notes on the ticket written by the officer. Mine had, "Are you sure it was me?" LOL! Actually, I did say that because I was following a Mini Cooper S that was moving a lot faster than me. If none, asking for an extension and "delaying" it as long as possible might help you.

2. I believe officers here in L.A. area are paid time and a half to show. They aren't going to forget. And I also think now in L.A. there are only certain days for "trial." For me, the Beverly Hills court house was on Tuesdays. That makes it easier for the officers to show because they know the day will never change.

3. While the "county seat" might work, what if it does end up there? IMO, downtown L.A. is a pain in the a$$ for a moving violation.

If you can get traffic school with no chance of the violation being on your record, eat the ticket ($$$) and take care of it that way.

Being cute, crying & cleavage do not work!!!! In fact I think most cop's think you have probably been let off before so they are going to give you the ticket to prove a point. I have a lot of guy friends that get away with warnings were I always get the ticket.

My solution, I have an attorney that I pay $200 if he win's, nothing if he loses. So far he has gotten two tickets dismissed for me. I've tried the not speeding thing but its just not as much fun The attorney said make sure not to admit you were speeding - just act dumb.

To do list
1. Set cruise control 5 mph above the speed limit-wuss approach
2. Postpone on court day AM(uch)AP, see if I could move the court if possible
3. Research on Radar detector-some not CA legal
4. Join the CHiP, Sell my car and get Corolla, or Move out of California

Those that jam are illegal. It is not illegal to have a "detector." As I wrote above when I got my last ticket the officer saw it and started talking about it. He said they "generally" are a waste of money unless you have sensors located near a reflective point on the car. I have laser detection on mine but it never went off. We tested it. He stood in front my car and pointed the gun at my license plate. No signal. He raised his arm towards the hood and it went off. Laser uses reflective surfaces for its read.
