Many do, but you don't hear about it. It doesn't make good press. Part two of the answer is that the employers seek out people they can knowingly lowball and pay in cash and not report it -- meaning they are acting illegally as well.

And please let's get our terminology correct. Immigration is a process and "immigrant" is an earned status. Border jumping isn't immigration and doing so doesn't make one an immigrant.

its always about the damn dollar bill.

Suave said it ,you do what you have to do..if you never been desperate how would you know what you would do.

Some men run in the face of danger other don't, how do you know you would stand in fight unless you were in the situation.

Everyone likes to think we would do the right thing but when the shit hits the fan some people step up and some do not.

These people are fighting for their future their families their dreams...they fight for the real meaning of America.

the real meaning of america does not mean swarming and then acting like they own the place, we have plenty of those here already we dont need outsiders doing that as well. and as for stepping up when the shit hits the fan as i said killing because you need a dollar is not going to get you anywhere except in jail or killed and the illegals are doing the same thing either going back or getting killed... this goes for everyone just to make a point i am not trying to pick on any one in particular

Who said anything about killing...desperate does not mean you have to become a criminal a killer or a begger.

I can see why people are upset but unless you wear their shoes how can you say you would not do the same thing.

The bottom line is people are jumping borders, or relocating their residencies, for socio-economical reason. Past hundreds of thousand years, our ancestors have moved from Africa looking for foods, not to freeze theirs asses, or to feed the kids... There are tons of rich people in Mexico. You cannot make them move to the state even if you want to. People who cannot make it in Mexico, they will keep on coming in here no matter what until there's no financial incentives (when there is economical equilibrium.) Anti-immigration law will only slow down this transition. Yes, people gotta do what they got to do. Well I my point is open border will hurt Americans because we have more to lose than people from developing countries. Yes I do have kids to feed, too.

to bad you achieved all that and you can relate and still say al they want is a handout...don't you think crossing the border and risking their life is proof that they want to work and make a living. not all Mexicans are out to get the system some of us are actually good and descent people. There are bad apples in every race on this earth.

lots of the people that you are talking about have lots of experince on certain things , like farming, construction and so on. so maybe you should not understimate.

so you are trying to tell me that by getting a job that paids low wages or one of the jobs held by these people that you are talking about, that makes you a non self respecting human, so if you have no job and you have been looking for one for a long time and the only job you can get at the time is on landscaping paying you $8.50 hr you will not take it if that is what it takes for you to put food on your kids plate?

As always, with such a broad issue, there are shades of grey. At some point, be it 298 million, or 400 million people, the environmental, cultural, and social infrastructure will simply implode. And yes, socio-economics has driven human migration for millennia.

But look at the border. It's a hell hole.

We regulate the refinement of fuel, the production of milk, the quality of water. Of the 11 million foreign workers here, how many have had a background check run on them? At Ellis Island, immigrants were checked for typhus and fleas. There was a vetting process. Why don't we insist on at least regulating the caliber of people who are in our country? It's a win-win for everybody.

There has to been a method to the madness. You want to work in America? Fine? But lets get some documents in order, lets have some checks and balances. Let's make sure you speak English, have taken a driver's test, have basic health and car insurance, and you pay some sort of payroll tax. Oh, and it would be great if you weren't in a gang or a convicted felon.

Suave i am not picking on the mexicans this refers to asians, russians, blacks and everyone else who is here illegally, to come here we had to go through 3 years of checks a heath check, papers had to be filled out people had to pay the government fees for all the applications, someone had to vouch for us it was a long process so i am greatful for being here and i know what its like but i also know that if i can do it the right way everyone can. they have experience but honestly when was the last time you saw a farm in NYC? and construction? honestly half the houses here are built of sticks and sheetrock and i'm not too fond of how its done. as for the prices in store and their labor there is no correlation and if there is then just as Roc said i would be willing to pay the extra dime. i am not hating on them hell i worked with them they are people yes they deserve rights but earn them right and as for immigrant being a permanent resident well guess what they are not they come here take the money and go back hence taking money out of OUR system not quite sure where the permanence is. Again this is just my view i dont mean to sound harsh or insult anyone here please dont take this the wrong way
