You can't, Michelle.
What you CAN do is burn them onto a playlist and then onto a CD and give that CD to your friend. I know it's annoying, but that's part of the iTunes DRM. Good luck, Juan

hmmm... well, the MP3 player in your X5 (if it even has one) is poor. I know the MP3 player in my 330 plays some, but not all, the songs I burned onto a CD.
I believe you have the option to rip the songs you purchased via iTunes into MP3s (they are AAC files). That may work. Juan

Michelle, just convert the ACC songs on your iTunes to MP3 and burn them as CD Audio files (not MP3) because I don't think you can play MP3 in your X5. There are 2 options you need to check for in iTunes. There are under the Edit > Preferences menu:
1. Under Advanced tab, click on Importing tab, and select MP3 Encoder 2. Under Advanced tab, click on Burning tab, and select Audio CD Then just select your ACC songs, right click and select "Convert selection to MP3" option, and drag the MP3 version of those songs to a playlist, then click on the round circle at the upper right corner to burn them to a CD Good luck! |

The AAC file must be burned to a CD WAV file which will allow the CD to be played in a CD player. The next step is to take the same CD and rip the tracks in an MP3 format to your hard drive. If you need help burning CD's or converting back to MP3, just shout out. |

Jhymn (Windows and MacOSX version of Hymn which was a command line program) both violate Apple's license agreement when purchasing iTunes music. That being said, Jhymn doesn't work with iTune 6, it only works with earlier versions of iTunes. To make it even more difficult, Apple programmed iTunes 6 so that once you buy music using this version, you cannot downgrade to an earlier version of iTunes and continue to purchase music. At this point you are now locked into iTunes 6.0 and therefore unable to use Jhymn.
So there's a legality issue, plus Apple is ahead of Jhymn in encryption game. It's somewhat stupid considering you can bypass the encryption simply by burning and ripping using Apple's own iTunes software. |

There are only three ways that I know of, Asa has mentioned one already..... burn to CDRW in any audio format then 'rip' back in Mp3 to your hard drive....
or you can use software such as TUNEBITE which plays the song and records an unprotected new version for you to do what you want with..... Tunebite or as ricky has mentioed, you can use hymn or iopener which allows you to remove the protection from aac/.m4p files which then become .m4A (unprotected). Hymn and iopener there is another program called irevolt that removes protection irevolt Cheers

Hi Michelle. The answer to most of these questions can be found on the Apple support forums. Here's an example (below) directly from the Apple site regarding this question. After you finish the described process i believe the songs will appear in your itunes library as regular iTunes songs and will not say purchased. (That means you will have 2 copies of the same song in the iTunes library. 1 purchased and 1 mp3) Then you can burn another CD with the songs you want to share and give it to a friend. Remember when you burn the new disk (for the friend) you burn it as an audio disk.
http://discussions.apple.com/thread....800282󃘚 Check your iTunes preferences>Burning. Are you trying to burn an audio CD, an MP3 disk, or a data disk? If the answer is MP3 disk, it won't burn because purchased music is AAC, not MP3. you would have to burn an audio disk first, then reimport it as MP3. Quote:
