I think the point is that the United States has been involved in more wars in the past 50 years than, by far, than any other country in the world. And in all of those wars, the United States invaded other countries.

The United States also has a very high crime rate compared to most countries in the world. Our murder rate is the highest of all the industrialized countries in the world, and we have the highest percentage of our population behind bars of any country in the world.

A "peace-loving" country would be one like Sweden or New Zealand -- one who had kept to themselves, not invaded other countries, not started wars, and does not have a high rate of violent crime.

It's laughable to say we are "peace-loving". We are perhaps the least peace-loving of any country in the world, perhaps with the exception of a few third world countries.

Also, having police on every corner is certainly not a sign of "peace-loving". That is a sign of a violent society that needs high security to maintain order. Nazi Germany had police on every corner. Iraq currently has police checkpoints all over the place -- would you say they are "peace-loving"?? If you go to a country like Sweden, that has an extremely low crime rate, you probably will barely see any police at all, as they do not need them.

i have a thing or 2 to say about that, the US is a melting pot which is what spurs half if not more of the issues. New Zealand or Sweden or Switzerland if you want to go neutral are plain they dont accept anyone who isnt one of them to be their own. Yet the US takes anyone and everyone and then goes and gives them rights as in the case with the Mexican issue. so we brought that upon our selves. and to top it off we take these people under our wing and what do we get back in return? Hatred thats what. dont say we arent peace loving because those who come here and respect what this country did for them return that favor. the ones who come here and take advantage are the ones to blame. who makes up the majority of gangs in the states? look at who has the highest crime rate? look at the percentage of one nationality vs another in prisons and then tell me what the problem is. if you notice the majority of issues are with people who come from poor countries and they bring their malignant way with them.

Iranian censors clamp down on bloggers.

Article Highlights.

Iranian authorities are stepping up arrests and pressure on popular bloggers as part of a wider Internet clampdown launched after hard-liner Mahmoud Ahmadinejad became president last year, ending years of freewheeling Web access that once made Iran among the most vibrant online locales in the Middle East.

The Internet censors are busy. Their targets include sexual content, international politics, local grumbling, chat rooms and anything else that makes the Islamic leadership uneasy. Mohammad Ali Dadkhah, a prominent human rights lawyer, estimates at least 50 bloggers have been detained since last year.

The cyber-squeeze, however, is seen as more than a broad slap at dissent. It shows vividly what authorities can and can't control.

The Islamic establishment is able to filter the Web through its oversight of all Iran's Internet service providers, as well as media, cinema, literature and other arts. The government also uses the Internet to promote is own messages. State-run television on Sunday announced the launch of Ahmadinejad's own blog — http://www.ahmadinejad.ir — where he writes about his childhood, the Islamic revolution and the Iran- Iraq war.

Well if you're a leader with major citizen opinions in conflict with your direct actions, you may not want that getting out. AKA, a 60%+ disapproval of the Iraq war in the USA. Other countries froth at the mouth when they find out a leaders own people aren't for 'their plan'.

Whatever. Dont kill the messenger. like is said this is my cousin in laws opinion not mine. I will admit i dont know shit about islam. But He was born in the middleeast and grew up with these people and knows alot more about them that you and I so i tend to believe the stuff he tells me. especially since he has read the entire coran several times and is an extremely well educated man who has gone to the top ivy leage schools in the USA and England. Also i have never know him to be a disrespectful or unreasonable man. So there that is why i believe his opinions.

Guts? To post what a relative told him? It would take guts to publicly speak it in an Arab country, I agree.

Disrespect? Would you say it's ok to disrespect Jesus or the Torah?
Just trying to figure out where you're coming from on this...

The only thing about this post that merrits a response is the fact that it's an opinion.

Also the way they look at it is that it is Muslims agaist the rest of the world for the only reason that the rest of the world isnt muslim. You dont have to do something bad to them for them to hate you. they just hate you because you are not muslim. To them there mission is either to convert you to be muslim or kill you.
this is what ive learned from my new cousin. He actually hates muslims all muslims. He has read the Coran. "I think i spelled that wrong but who cares. from cover to cover" froom cover to cover. And he said they are fucking crazy and the only way to beat them and creat peace is to kill them. they are the root to every problem we currently have. There religion tells them life is worthless and your real life is after you die and if your a good muslim you will get something like 50 virgins and little boys when you die and swim in rivers of honey and shit like that. And they have like 100 wives whom they treat like garbage. My cousin also said the prophet mohammad was a petiphile. He used to have sex with little boys. He told me alo more. But i was shock when i heard this shit. Mind you My cousin is a doctor and extremely well educated. I believe hime. He was born in the middle east and lived there until he was 25 years old. So he knows alot more about it than you and I so i really believe what he has to say. Just to let you know im just telling everyone whay my middleastern cousin told me these are not my opinions so dont get pist at me for this thread. I just wanted to give everyone an opinion of someone who is actually from that part of the world who is not muslim.

This I would say is disrespectful:

I would never no matter how ignorant I was about anybody's else religion, say such unfounded comments on anybody else prophet especially in a forum like This one.
Now it's OK not to like such and such religion and 90% of the muslim don't agree with terrorism nor do they consider terrorists muslimS, however there's a line not be crossed IMO.
RESPECTFULLY

I read all the posts on this thread and although I have my opinion I did not want to add my 2cents until now. I considere the all people who post on this X5 forum as friends and I learnt not to talk about politic and religion with friends as it can easily spoiled a friendship. The only thing I would say is that I fully agree with tijanaw when he says that this type of comments has nothing to do in a forum like ours.
