wow, where the hell do you get this shit from?
The State Department conducted a poll last month which found that 9 out of 10 Arab (includes Sunnis and Shiites, but not Kurds) Iraqis "believe the security situation and the violence levels would improve if the U.S. and its allies left immediately."

jeeeeez.
I think the answer to this is the Dems will not do what the Reps are doing and that’s enough for many Americans (me included). It's clear many Americans are fed up with "staying to course” and since the president has not listened and made changes along the way then the people will start making changes.

I am glad the Dems have no plan, if having a plan means staying involved in a war that your losing, and getting our brave and powerful military chopped to bits I am not sure having a plan is such a great idea. Why not develop a strategy that is fluid? Adapt to changes in conditions? Staying the coarse odr packing up and leaving are not plans that will work.

and you drew your prior conclusion from that poll how? please explain how that "poll" translates into "if you add more troops the situation will get worse" (paraphrase)

Who is the "I" in that statement?

Winner of a plan...

During all of this, our government has grown to be the largest (fattest) under ANY president (so much for small government), and we have racked up the biggest deficit in our history (so much for being fiscally responsible).

Look, whether the dems have a better (or any plan at all) is truly a moot point. What the electorate did yesterday was send a message: "We don't like what you're doing. It's not working. Get out!" If the dems do not deliver, they too, will be thrown out in '08. Like it or not, that's the way our democracy works. I, for one, hope we get this mess straightened out. The administration will be forced to actually negotiate and find common ground -- in other words, be good politicians <gasp!>. The days of the rubber-stamping of bills are over. At least for two years.

Happy and proud to be part of the American electorate.

Juan

That is just common logic. If you injest poison and get sick, it would be logical to think that injecting more poison would have any other result but getting you more sick.

If the troops are part of the cause of the violence, then having more troops will cause more violence.

When are people going to understand that this is not a war that can be won with force. If you raise troop levels, the best you can hope for is an ongoing gorilla war will will last decades like the ones in Columbia and Israel and like the one in Vietnam from 1920-1975, which finally ended when the foreign armies left once and for all. You cannot win when the large majority of the population of the country wants you to leave. You will be seen as occupiers for as long as you stay and you will continue to make things worse, not better.

And BTW, the same goes for Afghanistan.
