No dis, but that must be Phoenix area pricing...they are considerable

have something to do with that large quote. Here in SW FL, they bring
them on a flatbed looking like telephone poles and about a dozen illegals
winch it off onto a weird wheeled trolley deal and roll it into place.

The "standing" looks like the fitting of the mast, Moby Dick style.

Good luck on your palm!

To answer your question, it is a Phoenix dactylifera

It is a true "date" palm. I checked 3 nurseries, so the price is in line. That was actually their sale price. The crane lift over the wall cost is only $200. This is the heartiest and best palm to have in Arizona.

You're starting to sound like me, "Mr.Cheapass" . Anyone that knows me knows I do my homework on major and minor purchases for that matter. First off King Palms are less expensive than this date palm, and in addition, they will not survive in the Phoenix area. I think it's heavier than you might think. They told me it's about 2,000 pounds. Lastly, I would not be surprised if nurseries have raised their prices to offset all of their losses from our severe frost last December.

SG,
Yes...good digging: that is the real deal, "date palm" wise.
It is the highest priced date palm here in SW FL, though
not quite as steep as in AZ.

Now I get it, lifting-wise. They roll'em here, up to major league
telephone pole size.

Yours will be Titz when it "takes" and grows.

Updated Pictures

Here's a few updated pictures for your viewing pleasure. The summer bermuda grass is fully in, and al the plants are becoming established. I'm still trying to get replacement block for the wall that they knocked off when dropping the palm in it's hole .
