Some details on the expected voice mail capabilities
iPhone will revolutionize the way customers access voice mail because it uses cutting-edge software—developed in part by AT&T and Apple—to allow users to view and listen to any voice mail message without going through all the ones that precede it.

This is the first time customers have been able to check voice mail in any order they want on a wireless phone in the United States.

Touch the voice mail icon on the iPhone screen and all your messages will appear in a list, just like email on a PC. Pick the message you want to listen or respond to first by touching it—iPhone automatically accesses that message.

It’s even easier to return a call. Just select the message, tap the call-back button and iPhone automatically dials the person who called you.

Another cool feature allows customers to play back any part of a voice mail message without having to listen to the entire message again. For example, if someone leaves you a four-minute long message and you missed the phone number or address they mentioned, just slide the playback bar to any point in the message and replay it as many times as you want.

I was wondering when you were going to chime in . That's old news, how about some "insider" information?

If interested in waiting for a hard drive upgrade, that makes sense, but any bugs/fixes will be resolved via software updates I'm sure.

thats what i thought and even mentioned that patchs/support would be available but was told with decemeber/xmas rolling around...don't expect major fixes now.. only critical fixes

I plan on getting one... just was told to stay away from the 1st release

one thing bothers me why would apple leave out 3g on this phone but include Wi-Fi, and also lock out 3rd party support...

oh well i'm gonna stay dualed-dialedin Moto Q/Sam Blackjack

till...

2008/2nd generation i-Phone.

One thing we don't know is how the software on this phone will impliment Wi-Fi. When the phone arrives we will get plenty of reports on it's speed.

I think this has to do with AT&T's 3g network. AT&T's 3g network is not nearly as large as Verizon's or Sprint's. Most AT&T customers, including myself, do not have access to the 3g network where they live. And I live in the NYC suburbs, not in some remote location. Verizon has had 3g here for over 2 years, Sprint for over a year, but the nearest Cingular 3g is about 20 miles away still. So for me, Wi-Fi is preferable to 3g.
