I don't think it is easier to copy it on the Mac. The CD is "copy-protected", but there are ways around this....(DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK)

Look at your CD....you can see a faint difference in coating....There is a music section and a data section. The data section is towards the outside of the CD....

Well, when you put the CD on your computer, it reads the data section first and tells the computer that it is not readable. So, if you block the outer section (I used a couple of small pieces of the 3M stick-em post and blocked the outer section), then when the computer tries to read the outer section, it can't and then instead it will recognize the music section. Then you can import it or rip it on iTunes.

Some people use permanent ink marker and block out that section.

BTW, I have had to do this on some of the newer CDs so I can have the songs on my iPod and it works.

I mean, I paid good $$$ for these CDs and why can't I back them up or transfer it to my iPod?

Is the DMB CD made by Sony? I notice this alot with some of the Sony produced CDs.

I had heard that the CD was copy protected but this is ridiculous. I can't enjoy my CD that is a legit copy on my computer and can't put my CD on my iPod. There are ways around this mess and supposedly it's easier for Mac users but I should not have to do a bunch of computer gymnastics in order to listen to a CD that I have every right to enjoy on my computer and my iPod. I'm not reproducing it to sell at a swap meet or eBay. I'm holding a legit copy that cost good money and I am restricted from how I am to listen to it.

I don't know if it's about money, intellectual property (= money), or special deals the band made with Napster (= money) but it sucks. And to think that Dave Matthews is such a screamin' liberal. I knew society was going to Hell in a handbasket as soon as we moved from vinyl to CD's.
