MD, why don't you do a "System Restore" to a previous date before you installed the updates? Win XP automatically saves restore points for you.

Go to: Start, Programs, Accessories, System Tools, System Restore. Choose a date before you installed the updates and see if it will revert your system back to that previous configuration. You will lose anything you have saved or added since that date and now but it would get you computer back to normal again.

Another option might be to uninstall the updates. I do believe that is possible, I think it states that in the text for the updates somewhere, but you would need to know exactly which ones they are.

Hope that helps...

EDIT: BTW, I installed a few updates Tuesday night I think, 3 or 4, but nothing I'd call really "big". I also run Norton but I've had no problems at all. Definately looking at NOD32 though for my next machine though, from what I hear it's not as much of a resource hog.

It appears that my desktop pc was just bitten by the update bug as well. Yesterday, everything was working just fine, but I did notice that when I went to shut down the PC, that it was downloading the updates. This morning, I crank up the PC, and I can no longer connect to the internet. That system uses IE 7 btw. So I crank up my Macbook, and everything is working perfectly. Hmmm...

It does seem like Vista is a bust, and Mac is getting stronger, but remember how they treated those I Phone customers.

Keep in mind that MANY iPhone customers not only got a $100 in-store credit, but if they bought using their AMEX card, they also got their $200 back from AMEX under their price protection guarantee .

Got it - two articles, one over seven months old (an eternity in PC-dom), and the other is "only" three months old. Whatever.

And nothing on the "rise" of Mac?
