If big 3 is purchased by Chinese companies it is likely they will find good job in America as well. ![]() A couple, younger Chinese lady (recently from China) and heavy set older American guy patronized my business several months ago. As I suspected she was a picture bride. At least she was motivated enough to teach herself English and get a local government job and doesn't appeared to be high-maintenance. Without her I am sure he would be very lonely and unhappy, just considering his appearance alone. I might be making a snap judgement. They seemed to be happy together. She was describing her husband as big Santa Clause. One disturbing things was, prior to her husband appearance, I was talking to her in Mandarin Chinese for two minutes I learned from two semester Chinese class in college. She started describing her female hygiene issues and start feeling up my arms that many males in my situations could totally misinterpret.

Having read through the whole thread.
Is it just me Surely there is more to a relationship than simply how a person looks or how fat or thin they are. If your aim in life is to meet fall in love then settle down to have kids etc etc the longevity of the relationship needs to based on more than how a person looks. |

Attraction to looks is the starting point, not the end point.

You see DJ, I grew up in New York also lived in Miami, now I'm in Los Angeles. So you're probably thinking, "Typical East/West mentality, you can even throw in a caribbean south, if it helps frame the argument. But what you would be forgetting is that I too lived in the Mid-West. Spent five years there when I was at Ohio State University and that was in the state capitol of Columbus. So contrary to popular belief, some of us who have spent time on the left and the right have also spent time in the middle. (My wife is also from the outskirts of Cleveland so I go back from time to time.) There are a lot of nice things about living in the middle but I would not, not for a second, ever even consider moving back. No thank you, no way, not today, not tomorrow, not ever. But I guess if you've never actually lived on the left or the right, you might have a hard time understanding that point of view. But let me explain a couple things just to frame the argument: Good Italian food does not come from Olive Garden. Good SeaFood does not come from Red Lobster. Good Chinese food does not come from Panda Express. Going "out" does not mean playing darts and drinking beer. Staying "in" does not mean playing darts and drinking beer. Multiculturalism does not mean having 1x black or jewish friend. It's not okay to beat your wife. Flipping the collar on a flannel does not equate to style. A pickup truck is not the only mode of transportation. Deer are more attractive at play then mounted on the wall. A bad day of fishing is not better than a good day of work. Yes, I do believe that was the smelliest fart ever. No, I do not care how many hot dogs you can eat in one sitting. Your mom's glass menagerie of pigs is not cute. Yes, martha stewart would probably be very happy with that multi-colored new couch you bought. Yes, your kids should be encouraged to not just go to college but to also finish. No, it's not a smart decision to have kids at 17 years old no matter how much you love the father. The Drew Carey show is not coming back to network. Sorry.

but surely the principle is the same no matter where your from fat, thin, thick or clever. With the best will in the world you meet the "right" person for you. You think this is the one and your partner for life settle down have kids or maybe not etc etc, however no one knows what is round the corner in 1 year or 10 years and even 30 years and how your feelings or relationship will have changed only by the grace of god and with a lot of hard work do you stay together for 70+years. |

Hey don't lump Chicago into your midwest mix! I did live in Milwaukee for roughly four years during highschool, and was more than relieved when my parents told me they were moving back to Chicago!
