3 of you are missing the point in thinking that I'm just looking for a thin woman. Did you even read my original posting??? That is far from the truth and that you even suggest that is insulting. Thanks. More than anything it's about finding someone that has common interests and a common lifestyle. I'm big into running, biking, triathlons, hiking, wilderness camping etc and no 200 plus pound woman is going to be as interested in physical activity as I am. What, she stays on the couch and pushes doritos in her pie-hole while I'm busting my ass on a run to look good and stay more than just healthy??? Anastasia is from Siberia and likes cold weather. She has no kids/ex-husband and all the baggage that comes with that. She likes to run and works hard to look like she does. I never would've gotten past the first of hundreds of emails to her if she wasn't so like me. I never would've went to Moscow, Kiev & Warsaw to see her if we didn't have so many common interests. For those of you to also insinuate this is just a fiasco of writing a few times, talking on the phone and applying for a visa, pull your head out. There have been hundreds of emails, hundreds of phone calls, and trips to see her. Obviously you haven't read the entire thread or you obviously have preconceived notions about looking for a partner outside of the immediate area. The bottom line is; there are NO and I repeat NO women within 40 miles of me that are single, without kids, that take pride in their health and conditioning, are intelligent, and are motivated. I have tried the online thing and yes there are lots of women that would be perfect who live in Minneapolis, Madison or Chicago but have no desire to live in far Northern Wisconsin. What are the chances a woman from one of those cities would want to come to Northern Wisconsin knowing that it's a career ending for her? How many women today would be content in being a stay-at-home mom to raise a child or two? That's almost what it would take where I live because of the lack of a respectable career market. The Eastern European Women consider that the ideal family situation. That is to make the family and the kids a priority and not their career. Sure I would prefer that my partner work but I would rather have my children raised by my family instead of by a daycare center also. If you can't understand my situation at this point you never will and I would appreciate you not insulting me by insinuating inaccurate assumptions.

Aren't there any women in the service?? I would assume there are lots of women in uniform who are also in good physical condition, enjoy outdoor activities and aren't already strapped with a herd of kids.

Also, have you given any thought to moving?

Yes and no. More family-oriented?? Not really. Anastasia aside (no judgements in that regard), Eastern Europe has undergone a tremendous whirlwind of a change in the past 10-15 years. I've been back to the mother-country, as have many of my friends and relatives. The women are gorgeous, exotic, etc. But they have been exposed to the same level of bling-bling as the US, and in many cases much higher level from the petro-mafiosos that are parading their Ferraris and Bentleys all over Moscow, Kiev, St. Petersburg, etc. So the materialism has gone up exponentially compared to even a decade ago. Family values are no longer aspired to as much as a "party" lifestyle and jetsetting around nightclubs and lounges.

So while it's cliche, it really does boil down to individuals more than nationality. For every Russian woman you show me who is loyal and family-oriented, I can show you 5 Russian chicks who are ready to whore it up with the next sugar-daddy that comes their way. Hey, I don't need to tell you Lambeau: you've seen for yourself how slutty they dress in Moscow and Kiev, and how provocatively they come across. Eye-candy?For sure! Would I party with them?? You bet. But co-habitation and marriage?? Buyer beware...Once again, not anything related remotely to Anastasia. I'm just saying that in general Eastern European family values have gone down many, many notches in the last few years. It's a very dynamic situation, I don't think it's any longer the best "wife" market out there.

Don't listen to the kids bashing on the forum, my friend. You know EXACTLY what you want, and why....that's all that matters.
If she's not the right one, another one will come along! Croatia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Bosnia, Serbia....they are all full of pretty women, and in some areas I've visited, there are 3 girls on one guy (due to all the wars!). They are articulate, sophisticated, educated, and can not find a mate simply because there are none in their area (just like in your case!).
They take a great pride in their appearance, and they are willing to "explore" the world.
But it's not all a walk in the park. Cultural differences can be a problem, and I find myself at odds with my wife some time. The important thing is that you both understand these differences, and learn how to compensate. It's not that she has to adjust to you only,...you'll have to do your share too. From disagreement on decorating the house, to the diet, and entertainment,...it will be challenging, but hopefully worth it.

Small example,...we learned to watch certain shows on TV together, and some separately, with no ill feelings. She can not tolerate the amount of violence in our movies, and I can not watch the movies where somebody is dying of cancer, and everybody's bummed about it (Fried Green Tomatoes for instance)!

Anyway, these are my thoughts and experiences after being married to a German for over seven years. Most guys in this thread are shooting their mouths off without any actual, and personal experience.

Dude! Your wife doesn't need to be from Siberia to have taste differences in television shows..
- You think I'm going to sit down with my wife and watch "GOSSIP GIRL" or "AMERICA'S NEXT TOP MORON" or whatever other stupid crap she's watching.

In terms of decorating, what do all men want? A big comfortable leather couch! What do all women want, something softer, smaller, in a nice fabric.

I don't disagree with you that cultural differences can be even greater when you have to cross ponds, learn new languages, etc. But at the end of the day, no matter where you are from, Women are from Mars and should not be handed the remote control.. That's just UNIVERSAL...
