And this is one of the best reasons to vote for McCain. He WILL veto any bill with pork attached to it. He has promised this and I have no reason to doubt he will follow through with it.

It is pathetic that these are the only two real choices we have to be ruler of the free world though...

"Taxes" that impact most of us today, didn't arise in the last 20 mins or
even 20 months. The Reps have held a number advantage in House from
1995, until the last election congressional election.

I am not for either "party"...I just thought we might have a lil'review of
who "controlled" the House/Senate for the past 13+ years.

It's fun to watch the candidates throw bs around...and, interesting to
read some/most of the political posts here. I suspect most of you dear
readers slept through Poli Sci 101 and never took another PoliSci course
after that Fresh Req,

Here is a something everyone should strongly consider when they vote.

Earmark provisions...Pork at its finest usually slipped in at the last minute into legislation used to funnel cash into a politicians district for a specific project, company or neighborhood.

Total Earmarks

McCain 0 (ZERO)

Obama 113 (ONE HUNDRED AND THIRTEEN and counting)

Now consider that McCain has been in the Senate since 1987 and Obama since 2005.

You hit the nail on the head. Some of the best cat naps I've ever had were during Poli Sci 101.
Having said that, I no little to nothing about the way our system of gov't works. That is also why I don't usually vote. Popular vote, super delegates, primary's, etc. To be honest, none of it makes any sense to me. It's more confusing than trying to use a bidet and at least a bidet makes you feel clean and fresh, unlike politics.

That whole chart you put up, actually means nothing to me. I haven't a clue what it means. Should I be embarassed about that, probably, but why can't we just make the system normal, easy.

I even watched that movie Recount on HBO, I'm hoping the English language version comes out soon.

Here are the two things that are most impt. to me in the next election.
1) International Policy
2) Taxes and Economy

I believe both candidates are reasonably good men. They both seem to have good intentions and an ability to execute. At the very least, their both better than Bush.

I'm not going to get caught up in the "Change" campaign though. Cause I believe that both of them want a better America.

Either way, either candidate is going to have a real tough 4-8 years.

No matter who we vote for we should at the least look for entertainment value provided by the candidate. Both Bush and Clinton have provided good entertainment. Of the current candidates I believe McCain has more potential to provide that, but you never know what Obama has up his sleeve.

I still ain't voting for the old man. Well it is not my first time that I got my (lunch) money taken before. At least I have all the reason not to have taxable income higher than 200k/yr.
