That's the way I've seen it all along (at least for the last 15 yrs or so). Each side has their cheerleaders, but as far as the mainstream goes, it really depends which group happens to be in power at the time. They dig up dirt and the opposition has something to rally behind. Then, like you say, ratings go up. Them reporters is wiley...
