Yeah well so what

Just further proves that engineers have no cajones and refuse to stand up to the marketing department.
Don't you engineers know why we give you sooo many tools on your swiss army contraption..

One or two of those tools is a knife... Go slash the tires of some marketing guys and show them whose boss.

I like the keyboard in landscape mode. The iPhone only allows the larger keyboard for internet but not texting, email or notes. The keys are way too small in the upright position.

Budget! In many companies if you don't get buy-in from marketing you don't get a budget. Fact of life.

Well that's because if we let the engineers run the place, everything would look like a PC.. Marketing people know that guys like us love our MAC's.. LOL.

The iPhone, I can't do it as easily without thinking about it... which doesn't work when texting when you aren't supposed to be (in class, driving...)
my old pearl I liked, but like the iPhone, it won't let you cuss in a text. I can't tell you many people think im "ducking" insane

I just need a phone with BIGGERletters so I can see it...

They're making another version that has a qwerty keyboard.

See this is why we live in the world we live in. Engineering departments just don't get it. Don't give us the same thing we already have and repackage it with lesser branding. If you want to win our business, figure out what it is that the customer base is not happy and improve it, rather than replicate it.

And while there may be a small percentage of people that like having an Iphone without a keypad, based on my conversations of Iphone owners and potential iPhone owners, they are the minority not the majority.

The best of both worlds is a PDA that looks like an Iphone, browses like an Iphone, has apps and integration like an Iphone, syncs with a MAC like an iPhone.. But has a decent keyboard and better functions like SEARCH, COMBINED EMAIL, CUT AND PASTE, etc.

Well, later today, we'll get more info re: VZW Blackberry Storm and apparently, the touch screen is tactile which is different from the iPhone....whether that improves on the virtual touchscreen keyboard idea remains to be seen. I can type really fast text messages and email with a traditional keyboard on Treos, Blackberries, and even on the Centro.
