Have you heard of these guys? http://www.codeweavers.com/products/cxmac/ They have a Mac product for running Windows apps without installing Windows in a VM or in bootcamp. They had a giveaway of a free copy and I have a code that I signed up for but won't use, if you're interested. It has to be registered by Nov. 30. |

The only thing with the codeweavers thing is that it runs windows from mac OSX as an application much like parallels...
I actually have parallels and bootcamp versions of XP on my iMac, put the parallels in first (which runs slow as I have 2 operating systems running simultaneously) then added bootcamp because I needed full hardware accelloration for something I was doing... Now just gotta figure out which one to axe to free up 32 gigs...

I have heard of them but the reviews were not that good
and the software you could run was limited. Things might have change since then though. Quote:

Personally VM ware turned out to be more stable than parallels
and i understand that Bootcamp is the best option for running windows as long as you don't mind rebooting each time. Quote:

I really like VMware Workstation on the PC compared to VirtualPC. It has USB support, better clone support and a better UI. I have seen reports of DirectDraw problems with VMware on the Mac but I don't know what version of VMware that was.

If you buy very much extended warranty Dell laptops should be fine IMO. If you are concerned more about build quality than pricing, I don't know what else I should recommend if you don't believe that a laptop is consumable product.
In Asia, especially in Korea, it seems like a Toshiba laptop is the king, not Samsung or LG. The models sold there are very pricy and yet they tend to hold vaulues. |

VM Ware for Mac or Parallels, (or w/ or w/o BootCamp?)
Barry, sorry to hijack the thread. I got my MB fixed. I just had to rebuild it with a new HD. The old HD was damaged so bad Mac OS won't recognize if it was here. I don't have any data but at least I have a functioning MB. I left 50 GB partition just in case, I do Bootcamp as I did before. XP runs lot better on any other dell Notebook I used, but Bootcamp is very cumbersome to use.
1. What exactly would you use for Virtualization(running Windows on Mac) of your Mac? 2. Did you get New Mac Pro fro the price you got or the older model?
