Festivus for the rest of us...

I'm not pushing my religion on anyone but what is so wrong with having a Christmas tree in a public place? Maybe we should ditch the tree at Rockefeller Center

In most places a Menorah is displayed right along side the Christmas Tree.

There is nothing wrong with having a tree in a public place. No one is trying to take that away. And having a Menorah next to the tree is a nice gesture.

But wouldn't it be more inclusive to just call it a "Holiday" tree (if it's paid for by tax payers) so that way all tax payers can enjoy it, not just those that celebrate Christmas??

That's silly;

If people want to call it a Christmas tree so be it. If others want to call it a holiday tree so be it. If people want to call it a pine/spruce tree so be it. With all the problems people have with just surviving these days I doubt seriously if anyone really wants to make an issue or cares about who pays for it or what it's called........

That's a very serious statement for someone who puts such a holy moniker on the word marriage.

If the gay community wants to call their union Marriage, SO BE IT.

Who's talking about marriage? YOU???

I don't celebrate Christmas and don't care what people call it
or what they do with taxes regarding anything to do with the
celebration. Now if people start marrying their Christmas
trees I just might chime in.......

It is a holiday tree and the holiday is Christmas. It's a Christmas tree. Maybe we should call the Menorah a holiday lamp

No, becuase it's a CHRISTMAS TREE. People who aren't Christian can't enjoy it because of what it's called? pfffft.

Why should I change the name of a symbol of my religion to please someone else? Because they look at a tree with lights on it and get offended? huh?

More to the point, why does a Christmas tree offend anyone?

The only reason anyone would be offiened would be if they think negatively of the people who are Christian.

If someone wishes me Happy hannukah, and doesn't realize that I'm not Jewish, should I be offended? Because I'm not, and I don't see any reason why I should be.

I'll tell you what, I'll stop calling it a Christmas Tree when non-Christians, or those that are offended by a CHRISTMAS tree stop celebrating Christmas and actually show up for work on December 25th.

Christmas isn't a holiday like the 4th of July, it's a Christian RELIGIOUS holiday.

Can't have it both ways.

Rant over.
