I'd also put in a big vote for Kaspersky Antivirus - changed over from Norton a month a go or so. It has better detection (found things Norton couldn't find) and I combine it with Malware bytes. I'm not a windows expert by any means - I really don't want to invest additional cycles to do more than I do or know more than I already do. Our IT support team told me to move to Kaspersky and add Malware - that was good enough for me and I'm convinced it's better than Norton Anti-Virus. My thought is though that on the virus side, it's probably ok to have multiple tools as I believe no one vendor can have 100% detection/fixes against everything rapidly. Quote:

Hey Barry it's good to know that you take joy in annoying people who are trying to help others out. Nice attitude. I'm sure that your "brother from another mother" greatly appreciates your efforts in driving people off from helping him fix his computer problems. Regards, A "so called IT pro"

Are there more posts in this thread, where the OP asked for PC help, from the darn "get a mac" guys AGAIN --- rather than the PC guys offering help???
![]() I was going to post more info for MD but got really tired of Vista, XP, Mac, viruses, spyware, average idiot, etc. etc. posts that had nothing to do with the OP. MD, let us know if you need more PC help. I probably won't be back to you soon though as I'm heading out skiing --- it's actually snowing out here so I hope the road conditions won't be too bad. To each his own. I find OS X harder to use. And I have a lot more choices for software for Windows. As far as the hardware, you could make toast on my brothers Macbook. Pathetic engineering. Not as bad as the nineties when the laptops were utter crap. And if you want to build your own system, you have to violate the user agreement and IP laws. Can you say Fascist?

#1 I said "I believe people respond with the "GET A MAC". I didn't say I said it.
With all due respect I believe we know who gets annoyed when others do it. Personally I get no joy from it but I do find it humorous that some folks allow trivial comments like "GET A MAC" annoy them. But if you want to attribute "Nice attitude" to any of my comments then I'm happy to accept your view regarding the matter. Honestly my friend I don't believe I could single handedly drive anyone off from helping anyone fix anything. So with that thought in mind I'm sure my "brother from another mother" knows if and when i ever poke at him it's all in good fun. But as far as his computer problems go, I'm happy that folks are helping him because it educates me when I run into my Windows problems. ( Yep that right I run windows also) Quote:

Thanks, I think, for all the fine replies...
My intent was not to toss an aerosol can into our happy campfire here. I now understand what RealPlayer was trying to "do"; I have uninstalled it, and will watch an occasional vid on other methods for the time being. I am not a 'puter maven, but I am a good student of it and, esp. of my computer, as I spend so much time on it. One gets to know how their box runs, I feel. And, I do search hard for answers and info before I ask here. Macs are elegant, great for graphics/photos and all sorts of stuff. They are also pricey, imo, and I'm not looking for a new box or system at this time. I must say the "Get a Mac" tag line is wearing thin and I agree it would be like one of us telling most of the complaining posters here to sell the X and get a ________. NEway, no arm wrestle, and thank you for the tips and help. BR,mD
