In general I agree with you but there is something else to this story.
The Dallas Academy is setting it's team/students up for failure. The two teams shouldn't even be playing together unless it's a pick up game. Dallas Academy has eight girls on its varsity team and about 20 girls in its high school. It is winless over the last four seasons. The academy boasts of its small class sizes and specializes in teaching students struggling with "learning differences," such as short attention spans or dyslexia. |

I'm sure Covenant, the winning team, knew what they were up against before the game even started. I has nothing to do with playing down to the loosing team's level. It's about showing some character. The fact that they saw is as an opportunity to run up the score shows their lack of character. I would say Dallas Academy was the winner and Covenant was the looser in that department.

Granted, I wouldn't have put the full court press on a team that can't put the ball in the basket. There is no need unless the winning team had the intent of blanking them. I probably would have pulled all of my starters before the end of the first half and played my scrubs. Last edited by Krimson X; 01-23-2009 at 01:18 PM. |

Winless over 4 years. That's the part that seems to be off kilter here for me. Should there be an opportunity for these girls to learn how to play where they actually are matched more evenly?
After the 1st (and 2nd and 3rd) year of no wins there had to be a discussion of what do we do next year. So there was a decision to go for the same approach in the 4th year. Adults who are the leaders here are not creating an environment for growth in my opinion. They are not being set up to succeed. 4 years of losses - what does that prove? Quote:
