I would be pissed as well B. It must be the dealer. When I bought my X5 from Beverly Hills BMW I got to test drive till I was blue in the face. Same thing goes for Hornburg Land Rover with regards to a full test drive of a RR S/C. Down here in SD I test drove a fully loaded Cadillac Escalade Hybrid with no questions asked. I of course took 3 looks at the interior of it and ran for the hills but that is another thread. I don't think it's Cadillac as a brand's fault their dealerships suck. It's only been a few years since Cadillac moved towards a BMW fighter. The dealers don't change overnight but that is still no excuse. Cadillac should be extremely concerned that their dealers are not stacking up because if they want to play with the big boys they need to bring everything to the table. Until then you will keep seeing them bribing their buyers (huge rebates, employee pricing etc) to move their fleet.

Seriously thou B let's be real. There is no way someone looking at an AMG Mercedes would downgrade themselves enough to buy a Cadillac. Perhaps they sensed their disadvantage and cut their losses.

E61Silver is an unknown quantity at this point
I think the problem is that dealers are trying to keep costs low and do not have demonstrators.

Huh? Why not? The only thing the CTS-V did was run the fastest lap ever for a stock, four-passenger car at Nuernbergring!

B, as you know, the dealers are independently-owned. I understand your frustration, but this is not GM acting like asshats; it's the dealerships.

So its safe to assume that Ca, Cadillac dealers are not feeling the pain of the economy. It must be so if those dealers can set such high criteria on just a test drive...

Wait...You wanted to test drive a Ferrari, you leased a $90K Acura NSX and were looking at a Porsche 911 and you don't pay a percentage of your employees health care?

Instead you'd like the rest of us to pay...Nice.

Hey-B...You're right. You'd be hard pressed to find a GM dealership or any American manufacturer who will let you test drive ANY of the high end performance vehicles. I could not test drive the Z06 Vet or even the 300 SRT-8 when it came out. Last November when sales started to slump I was able to test drive the SRT-8 which surprised me and I ended up buying the car.

I would almost NEVER buy a car without test driving it first unless it was an exotic with a good reputation.

Good Call! Of course it doesn't count. Why should erik pay when someone else can? That way he can lease another expensive car! I smell a hypocrite...

Trust me I know that sucker is fast as heck. BUT what I'm saying is that perception is everything. To 90% of the population the AMG Benz and entry level Caddy are millions of miles apart. It's just life in LA LA land
