You know something Gresch;

You are welcome to your personal opinion
and no you don't have to drag anyone through the mud
but thats what your doing. My question is why construct
the negative energy?

Why keep convicting someone of a perceived
crime in the court of public opinion? What purpose
does it serve? Who do you hope to convince?
What does it accomplish? What's your payoff for
doing so?

Do I like tapping my feet to his music? NO NO NO.....
I get out on the dance floor and Jam when I hear
his music. Pop my fingers and sing along. Don't you
enjoy dancing? Or are you so completely convinced
that MJ is guilty of something that you personally
have proof of that you couldn't present in court and
now you find his music less than enjoyable?

You see I don't need to give him a pass for anything.
God makes those kinds of decisions. So if
you want to stand in the place of God then
be my guest. Frankly I would steer clear of
judging others if I were you. After having
lived as long as I have I have found that
the mature thing to do is is to take a position
of kindness lest you find yourself in the same
position. Trust me it's not a good place to be.

Keep living my friend and you will understand.
For now agreeing with you is the only answer
you will accept. But Im sorry brotherman
it aint gonna happen.

Your answer to the question is a ridiculous cop out.

It might have been a fair question when he was alive.
Now that he's dead what's the point.

But wait a minute. Now that you mention it this would be
a good time to leave kids with him........

Would you leave your children with Tommy Lee, Axl W Rose, Robbie Williams or even Chuck Norris, just because you know who they are from tv.?

I don't care if you agree with me Barry, we're having a discussion here, it sometimes happens that people will differ in opinion in a discussion, go figure. Your opinion is your opinion and mine mine (thanks for letting me have mine btw, how benevolent of you) I simply made a statement and asked a question. One that I asked to make a point in the discussion of a public figure's life and one that you feel isn't PC (which I'm having trouble understanding your vehement defense of, considering that you don't even know the man, but I digress). The ironic thing here is that you're saying "you don't know the man, how can you judge him" while I'm saying "you don't know the man, how can you defend him?". Maybe you've forgotten MJ's TV interview back in the day where he clearly states that he sees nothing wrong with a man in his 30's having sleep overs with unrelated little boys . Let me know how you feel about one of your neighbors slipping that little gem of a statement into casual conversation the next time you bump into them while cutting the grass.

Where we appear to differ is that my opinion of a famous/public figure's character isn't clouded by how many records they sold or how many #1 songs they wrote. I'm surprised that you haven't learned that lesson yet, considering you've been around so long . Where we don't differ in opinion, as I clearly said earlier in the thread, is that MJ made great music, maybe you missed that post, it's #43, but that doesn't make him a good person or worthy of adulation in death.

In conclusion, I'm sorry for your loss, please convey my sympathy to the Jackson family at the wake and funeral when you see them, and for God's sake whatever you do, don't bring up the baby dangling incident or the drug addiction or that bad thing that happened in '93, he's sold enough records and got enough people dancing that those indiscretions can just be ignored...

You're right, I wouldn't leave the kids with any of those people without knowing them, BUT, they didn't pay their accuser $20MM to go away and then not deny that they did anything wrong, then give an interview on national TV afterwards saying that they didn't see anything wrong with being in their 30's and having sleep overs (in the same bed!) with un-related young boys, and topping it off with dangling his newborn son over a hotel railing 10 stories up. So while you're right, no one would be very high on the list of potential baby-sitters unless you knew them personally, but let's just say that MJ would be a bit further down the list.

Oh Barry, you're so right, I can only dream of being as enlightened as you are one day in my life.... I've lived such a sheltered life, how can I ever hope to attain such supreme knowledge as you have?

By the way, just for comparison sake... I'm watching the golf channel right now, and they just interviewed Joe Pesci about Paul Newman's charity to help children, it was a golf tournament and raised a lot of money for the charity/camp. What a novel idea, hold a charity event to help children.
Call me crazy but this seems like a lot better way to go about it.

If you say no, well then, you'll realize why I'm not so unhappy that he's gone.
Wow...Who in their right mind would even let any celebrity, let alone anyone they don't know babysit their children? I've said too many times to remember, on-air talent shouldn't ever even be considered as role models, parents are.

I personally choose to focus on the arena in which i became familiar with MJ and that's as an ARTIST. Debating any celebrity/talent's personal life is completely and beyond moot.

All said and done, although imo tasteless, your opinion. When you think of Sinatra, do you consider his vast negative associations? Or Elvis, do you consider the 14 year old girls he was sleeping with or the underage girls living with him in his home? Although a part of their personal lives, their immense talent overshadowed their downsides.

Having worked in the industry, you quickly acknowledge so many variables as to why talent/artists are the way they are. in the case of MJ, most haters don't even know his background enough to understand the artist, let alone the man. They assume reading wiki or watching news reports sums it ALL UP. If your personal life played out in the public eye, exacerbated by media for the sake of profit, what secrets or smut, would we get to know about you?

It's your opinion and you're certainly entitled to it...but it doesn't even register as the impact MJ had on the GLOBE overshadows any negative and will become even more manifest after his death. BDS/soundscan reports and countless others sources will prove this fact.

You and all the haters have proved your opinions and points, you dislike the man and could care less that MJ is dead...WE GET IT! Now allow those of us who choose to remember the man in a different light, to mourn and celebrate his ingeniousness.

Tasteless? The man dangled his newborn over a hotel railing, that's tastless, plus a few other adjectives.

I've worked in the music/entertainment business for over 18 years before switching to a different industry, and I see the entire person and not what is merely seen through a fan's rose colored glasses. I have no stomach for entertainers being glorified by their fans when their character is so questionable as evidenced by their own actions and words as opposed to what is read in the tabloids or online.

And with that I'm done.

100%

I'm involved in the same kind of practical work mostly with
adults. It's surprising how hard it is to get drug addicts,
alcoholics, and others who have destructive lifestyles to
change their habits. Pretty satisfying when you can achieve
success..... It make the lives of everyone around
them soooo much better.

But if your reference is in regard to MJ then I guess
he agrees with you as well.
