Give it a rest. You have no clue.

Being crticial of something does not mean "hate", but then again, why am I bothering to explain it to you, it's like singing a song to a deaf man.

Ok so can you address the questions on this thread:

http://www.xoutpost.com/off-topic/lo...ter-why-2.html

Doesn't Apple have a remote computer access system/program, wonder if it works with the Pad? I bet the IT guys would know?

Also doesn't Office 2011 for Mac have a lot of "cloud" functionality?

If you were a true fanboy you'd fly down to get one yourself. I know someone in my office who did just that when the iPad came first out. He's sold it now and bought a MBA. When i asked him why he didn't fly down to buy the iPad 2 he reluctantly admitted to me that it wasn't nearly as useful as his MBA and that he wouldn't be buying another iPad. At least he's an honest fanboy.

All good points Quick. These guys don't have a leg to stand on!
They are just trying to get attention! Ignore them. The final sales numbers will be the proof! Be patient and watch their opinions crumble before them! I'll circle back to this thread after all is said and done .

If you had read the information I provided and additional information thats available perhaps you would admit that when people see the way new hardware and software is being brought to the general public then even you would have to admit that the way it is being used and the devices that are being used to run it "is new and unique".

What may be required for IT professionals is to simplify their viewpoint to understand what the public views as "new and unique". Common people don't spend their time looking at changes in technology from an IT perspective and honestly I don't think the average persons cares. So my suggestion to anyone who may be stuck in the IT closet is to try to see and understand what people in general are getting at when they say from their perspective that something is "is new and unique"

Regarding your comment "once again you show your serious lack of IT knowledge." I don't think I made any effort to impress anyone with whatever IT knowledge I may have. All I'm respectfully asking is that you consider that the opinions of others regarding the use of this technology for the everyday person. Many of my friends who have been in IT for well over 20 years see the future as heading in the consumer direction (hence the iPad debate). They understand the necessity of a broadened perspective regarding how to view where technology is headed. In that regard may I suggest that you give this article i've posted another read and see if you can find something positive about the way this technology (the iPad in this case) is being presented and share those positive comments in this thread.

The iPad could be the best mobile accessibility device on the market

Like many people who are into IT they forget what the average person would
like to accomplish

I have no doubt that they will sell a lot of them. But proof of what? That fans have lots of brand loyalty? That it is a high quality product that everyone should own? That it is useful?

If sales numbers indicated quality, McDonalds would have Michelin stars.

If sales numbers indicated utility, the Pet Rock never would have sold.

So maybe it is brand loyalty.

I love my iPad and will love my iPad 2 just as much or more. It is a wonderful convenience tool for me. I use it mostly to surf the Internet, e-mail, play games, watch movies, utilize some apps, and it all comes in a terrifically slick and portable package. I really like not having to pack a laptop for travel as I travel mostly for leisure and don't need computing power but do need connectivity. I can however, do word processing, spreadsheets, and presentations with Apple Pages, Numbers, and Keynote, respectively. I am now far more likely to grab my iPad to take with me when visiting friends or just going out really. I can show photos and videos to friends when we visit whereas I don't want to lug a laptop with me. I don't expect it to replace any of my multiple computers, I don't use it at work, and don't think it will render the full function computer irrelevant.

I admit I love the looks, the feel, the cool factor and I could do more with my MB but after having my iPad for about a year, I am hooked. I also have an iPhone 4 so it could be argued that I don't need a "giant iPhone" but they do serve different purposes. The iPhone 4 is great for web browsing but it's still too small to do that for prolonged periods of time. That's where the iPad can come in.

Corporate America and IT professionals might not ever adopt or approve iPads/tablets for use in those environments but that's okay. Not everyone is in those environments. I just enjoy the heck out of mine and tens of millions of others do too. I don't make too much of it all.

Mine was great for watching movies on the plane.

Crammed into the cheap seats there's no way I could open up a laptop.

I actually seriously considered driving down to Plattsburgh, NY from Quebec City to get one at Target or Walmart but I chickened out when I considered the possibility that they might be sold out when I got there (it's an 8-hour round-trip after all).

If there's one thing I despise about Apple it's that they will announce a product 2-4 weeks before the actual launch date in the US and then they make us Canucks wait another 2-4 weeks before we can get our hands on their new shiny toys.

Well, as they say, the reward of patience is patience...

It's not just Apple or Apple products, it's that way for just about everything.
