First off, I like the 2011 GC - for those of you that don't know, this is considered the "Mercedes" GC. Most of the design was done while Daimler still owned the company - it even sits on an ML frame. They have added a bunch of nice options, including a Select Terrain system, heated and cooled seats, pano roof, etc. I know a lot of you say, "so, my X5 comes with that." But you cannot get an X5 with a 360hp V8 for just over $40K. The only complaint I have with the 2011 is that they are still using a highly ineffecient 5-speed tranny - an 8-speed should be added sometime next year.

My X5 has almost 200K miles on it, and while I love it, it will not be replaced with one. I have probably paid for this thing twice with all of the repair and maintenance costs. We just purchased earlier in the year a 2010 GC which I absolutely love!! Can't beat the sound of the HEMI when you put your foot into the gas (although 14 mpg sucks). Wife is driving it until the X5 dies and then it becomes mine.

This is something else you won't get from an X5 - took it in for the 6K mile service - $40!!!! (unless you have a new BMW whereas it is free) Oh, did a mention it runs on REGULAR unleaded!!

It kills me to see people bash other vehicles just because it is not the brand that they drive...trust me, I have defended all of you many times over on the GC board.

Interior is very nice - again, it is not a BMW, but it is much improved from previous model years. Perforated leather with heated/ cooled seats are an option.

I think it looks great. Having owned a few Jeeps I am looking forward to checking one out in person.

The rear doesn't look too bad, however, it's NOT an X5!

I didn't bash it because it's not an X5, I bashed it because of all of my friends who have had a GC they have all had problems and were unreliable.

That and the MPG's suck too.

Maybe this new model will change those perceptions, I hope so. (except for the MPG's, I doubt that will change much)

I wish that Chevy still made the SS...

Kinda hard for us X owners to knock another vehicle for poor reliability though. The X5 has been the least reliable car I or anyone in my family has owned in recent years. My friends just laugh when something else goes wrong wiith it. I know most of them would probably never buy an X5 because of how unreliable mine has been. I still love it, but it is not reliable by any means.

I think it looks ok. But obviously my taste is different from some here since I like the way my GX looks. Some of you guys kill me "its ok but its not an x" of course its not. Don't get me wrong my X5 is great love it but it is not the only car on earth that I will be seen in. To top that off it is also one of the only cars I have ever had that has left me stranded and had to be picked up by a rollback that is besides a Jeep!

I have had two jeeps they are full of problems. I used to work while in high school detailing for a jeep dealership. Funny thing the master mechanic there had been there for a long time and when I was going to buy one he said don't. I was young and dumb and did anyway. Should of listened to him that thing was in for warranty work all of the time. Later bought a Cherokee for a 3rd car and finally sold it everytime I got in it something went up. My wifes grand mom has last years model grand Cherokee she loves it even though it has been back in 3 times for warranty work. I am 99.9% positive I will never own another one no matter what they look like.

I do see the issues that people report on here, but my 3 X's have been very reliable.

Regardless, whether I owned a reliable or non-reliable SUV, I think the reputation of the current GC and prior years is that it's prone to needing a lot of TLC, IMO. Of course there are other Jeep owners whose Jeeps have been rock solid, it's the same for every brand.
