You'd look much better on one of these Juan, and the highway would be no problem...

I know... but the CEO won't let me get a bike. Given my love for speed, she's afraid she'd be widow if I got a bike...

In the Emerg Dept, we call them "donor-cycles".

Yeah... I know they are inherently dangerous. They say there two types of riders: thye ones who have fallen and the ones who will fall. She knows me well, and is keenly aware of my love affair with speed. The fact that two of her realtors' husbands have been killed or hurt in motorcycle accidents does not help my cause. She'll let me get a fast car (that Porsche Boxter is looking mighty good ), but she won't let me get a bike... Pisses me off, but I understand.

My wife is the same way. She pretty much doesn't care what car I have, as long as I don't buy another bike (had one before we met). In fact, once I came home with a BMW motorcycle brochure, and the next day she said (innocently), "Why don't we go test drive a new car for you? You might like a convertible."

Smart women, aren't they?

Well, I certainly can't disagree. I've ridden for many years and may take it up again some day, but one does have to be double and triple careful on a motorcycle. It's not a sport for the young and immature, IMO. And Juan, I agree w/you - I'm one of those who have already fallen - a couple of times. I was lucky, but both occasions did scare the hell out of me. Perhaps I'll wait to get another bike until my kids are self supporting (could be another 20 years or more!). It's been about a year and a half since I last rode, and I have to say, I did enjoy it very much and really miss it. I had a '99 Fatboy & an '87 Honda Hurricane(exactly the same as mD's - color 'n all). 2 machines at opposite ends of the spectrum, but I think I liked driving them both equally. GL on your decision!

There is only one Harley worth having and it is some kind of pick up truck LTD edition thing! One drove past me when I was in Toronto was in black was stunning,But we dont get them over here I am afraid,The Harley thing over here is for over weight men with mid life crisis. But then I would say that as I am into Rice Burners I think is the term you guys use LOL.

'tis true Juan and just like X5Jay, i too am one that has fallen.
i even lost my brother 3 years ago due to an accident.
to this day though i still have the urge to ride and still do, but
i no longer own a bike. not that i may not in the future, but again,
as X5Jay said "one does have to be double and triple careful on a motorcycle."

I agree that a bike is dangerous. Your helmet is basically your only protection in case of crash. If I had got one when I was 16, which I dreamed about at that time, I would have probably killed myself. However 10 years later I bought a bike which I kept for 10 years riding it almost everyday, hot or cold, rain or sun, and never had any accident with it. Sold it when I moved to the USA. I have been thinking about bying a bike over here. Not a sport bike, not a cruiser but something like that http://www.extrememotorsportsofwaupu...Manufacturer=4

seriously though.. bikes are a lot safer if you respect it and learn to ride within your limits. It's all about common sense in combination with the proper training (MSF specifically) Bikes will let you get out of trouble as the handling, speed and stopping power is signicantly better. You do have to be extra careful with "cagers" Leathers, boots, gloves and helmet are essential.
