We're so sorry... another rant.

So, I go over to sears today to get a tool - I am rebuilding the calipers on one of my cars.

I find a spot where the X should be safe for a while - pretty far from the mall entrance and no cars nearby.

I get my tool and come out.

There is a family of 6 (mom, dad, older son and 3 youngers) getting out of a car - don't remember what make/model - there are STILL EMPTY SPOTS ALL OVER, they still parked right next to me.

I speed up. As I am coming closer I see the father holding the back door as the oldest kids are getting out on the driver side - my passenger side. So, I relax a little but still, I put on more speed to try to get in and get gone. As I get in I see the family milling around - all the kids are out of the car except the youngest - he is now reopening the closed door.

Soon as I get the key in the ignition I look over again and there is Jr. basically swinging on the car door as it opens. Blam, Blam, Blam. I yell "mother f**ker" as I look at the kid - the mom is looking at me. I get out of the car and go over to the passenger side. The mother, who has a look of terror on her face says "so sorry" in a barely audible voice. I just mummer "I bet you are." The oldest say "were sorry sir." I almost ignore him as I go looking for damage.

Now, the father comes over and snatches the kid by the arm and starts slapping him on the head and yelling something - I could not tell what. I stare at the father ask "Why are you hitting the kid - it's your fault." He looks back at me for a minute while trying to decided if he is going to jump or not. Then he also says "sorry."

I didn't see any damage so I get back in and go.

The reason I got so pissed is that like so many incidents with young kids IT SEEMS anyone with any bit of common sense could see what was coming while the parents are amazed... It was a chain of events that led directly to my door being pummeled, yet they are all so surprised "and sorry" when it happens.

Rant over.

With all the other available spaces in a parking lot the question is why
Do you need to park right next to me?

I don't get your point.

usually the other bimmers (or MBs, porsches and whatnot) are clustering together... i park a few spots away, sometimes "stepping" on the white lines (reiterating the BMW jerk image) and as i leave for the store, i make a mental note of how many available spots there are... sure enough, i come back, and some jerk is trying to make their point to "teach" me how to park by squeezing into the available room in the next spot... lol...

this is life... the mother of six has her brain blanked out and the father is probably so tired of her nagging that he didn't not know what he was doing... (probably needed a diaper change, and wanted to park as far as possible... still not an excuse to park next to you...)

reminded me an old old joke - one dude is sitting on the railroad track... another dude walks up to him - hey man, move over, make room for me!!!

I certainly wouldn't give a hoot if they just "parked next to me" - that certainly is life. But to go out of your way to park next to a car in great conditioned when there are plenty of spaces closer to your target store - essentially an empty lot - and then just watching as your kid swings on the door potentially damaging some else's property is not just an accident.

It's a question I ask when people park like idiots. I can park at the furthest point in a parking lot and someone will decide to park as close as they can next to me even though there are dozens of empty spaces available.

Someone once parked their X5 so close they couldn't get out of the driver side of their vehicle and the CEO couldn't get to the the passenger door at all, and there were other parking places all around us. So I guess the point is why do people who should know better (like people with kids) park next to luxury cars and then not monitor their children.

I get your point. I often wondered receiving a repair bill would change their attitudes and their attention to what they are doing.

Wow i feel your pain because THE SAME FREAKING EXACT THING HAPPENED TO ME!!! sorry im getting mad. This is my rant:

i was at MCD and this white tahoe decided to park next to me (i didnt try parking anywhere far i just ran in to get a sandwich to go), as im walking out i see the dad digging around in the trunk and then i see the rear door swing open and land on my drivers rear door. I ddint know what to do, the dad was all sorry sorry omg sorry and started rubbing the dent, whatever i was so lost myself, i get really out of it in heated situations, well the guy looked pretty poor and very very upset so i just said whatever its fine..

For a while i was hoping something would happened to the door so id just get it fixed, like some idiot or something would hit me.

looking back now i wish i at least would have asked for like 40-50$ to go get a dent removal or something.

Now there are no scratches or paint trasnfer cause i polished it and all but if you look more at an ange youll see it. Look on the top part of rear door close to the middle:

Anyway i usually park far away from everyone at just about every place i go to. My friends hate me and sometimes say "i never know where hes gonna park"

For example at school, 5th floor, still in shade, not a single car parks on that floor.Try to spot me

This may be too much but whatever, im wierd.

TL;DR: Same exact thing happened to except little girl.

I see it. Wish I could say it is not noticabe. But the good news is that you were able to rub off the Tahoe paint. That means you can go to paintless dent removal and get a fairly good job done. It's a shame you'll have to pay for it.

As far as "letting them off the hook because they look poor..." most people wouldn't think I have a pot to PZ in; that is unless they see me in one of my nicer cars. If I was driving around in my 95 Rodeo, you'd think I was one check away from doom.

BTW, I have the same color. Wish I could find a place the could take out a 3" long - deep scratch.

Few things in this world bother me, but this infuriates me.
