This was not a beneficial bill for the people, it was a lifesaver for the old guard. I think this is probably as close to a "revolution" as the US can muster. They keep trying to say it is Dems vs Reps, what it is is everyone was receiving letters from constituents stating "we don't want it"

So much for the early pats on the back and congratulations on a done deal. Nancy Pelosi is a real piece of work.

Sorry...But enough Democrats voted against this that had they followed the house leader it would have passed.

Pelosi can't even pull together her own party.

Pelosi managed to gather a substantial number of Dems to vote for Bush's bill... It's Bush that does not have the support from his own party...

Ummm, yeah... I thought I read 60% of Democrats voted FOR the bill. It was majority Republicans against. So why can't Pelosi pull her party together? Not that I'm for her or anything, but that statement doesn't make much sense.

You are in total denial. Pelosi announced this weekend that she had a deal in a big photo-op. Democrats control the house which means the Democrats don't need Republicans to pass a House Resolution. Throw in the sixty or so Republican yes votes and the Democrats have even an easier time passing the legislation.

Nice leadership Nancy.

P.S. It was no longer Bush's bill once the House took control of the measure and made significant changes.
