So what did you all think?
44 MLK References / Quotes I still say that he needs to earn the prize before getting it or become a "legend". So far, you're a legend of a government run by Twitter and a really good marketing team. He said on CNN International this morning say that hopefully this award will give him more meaning like it did to MLK... |

Is that true? Don't understand the need for that many references unless he is trying to somehow put himself in the same league, which he is not...
Although, around election time I saw many shirts in Atlanta with Obama and MLK on the front, so maybe he is... ![]() Agreed, think the award was premature. Edit: Too funny. I just read some article about his trip. He is the fisrt sitting U.S. President in 90 years to win this award. In all honesty, has there not been a president in the last century that had done enough with their time in offce to deserve this award within a 4 year span, but Obama has in less than one year??? Obama has almost literally done nothing except bail out two automakers, get a dog, have a beer with a racist and a cop, put his foot in his mouth on a late night talk show, etc. Add in his historical falling approval rating and it becomes even more strange. Also seems funny to me that he is there to receive this award less than two weeks after he just sent 30,000 more troops into a war he didn't agree with. I hear he also pissed off everyone in Norway because he skipped the second day of the festivities...Hope they are happy with themselves. ![]()

Actually, given that he was actually awarded the prize after being in office for only a few days, it is even more ridiculous. It may even be unconstitutional.

While I don't feel he, or any 20 min US Prez deserves it, the geniuses on the
Award Committee are the gang that anointed him...I am not enamored of O, but it was a decent "war mongering is necessary to be free" speech. The beef should be with the nominating/award selection committee and, of course O could have said "Thanks, but I am not worthy."

What about accepting the prize is unconstitutional? He did not accept anything from any government (Nobel is a private organization) so what is the big deal?
