If you go back just 4 years ago or so, and listen to the interviews he gave on NPR he was distainful of politicians in general and of the republicans in specific. This combind with the reasonable character he was displaying on his show (again 4 years ago - I have not seen it lately) made me think he was more reasonable and level headed than I thought. Maybe he even had some admirable traits.

When Trump started inserting himself into this years politics, at first I just thought it was a publicity whore thing; 'cause that's one of the things Trump is. But as time has gone by and he has not let go of this particular bone I have started to think that either he is still smarting from the drubbing he took at and since the press corp dinner and is seeking revenge, or the cheese is starting to slide off his cracker.
