In many cases Manchin votes with republicans, eliminating the majority advantage in the house. Senate is 50-50 split so no advantage there. In addition, bills require 60 votes to pass. The majority of the time republicans, democrats as well, vote strictly party lines. Many bills never get to the floor for vote so any advantage is meaningless.

The old establishment of democrat leaders aren't doing well against the current GOP top brass.

I would love to see a younger generation of democratic politicians take charge after Biden steps down.

If that doesn't happen, I hope someone like Liz Cheney or Mitt Romney can emerge as the next GOP leader. They seem more reasonable and less extreme than the current GOP stars like deSantis, Cruz and Marjorie.

Almost anybody is less extreme and more reasonable than DeSantis, Cruz and Marjorie.

Anyone happy that Joe Biden has taken a stand on the semi-fascists that have become a significant part of the republican party?

Calling a spade a spade, as it were.

Hopefully the morons wearing 'Deplorable' T shirts will be convinced to wear "Fascists and Proud of it" hoodies.

I agree with you. All in all, IMHO, Joe Biden has done an above average job as POTUS. Yes, he has miscalculated as to just how much his proposed polices have been leaning heavily on the progressive side and as a result not been able to garner more support in Congress. But I think he has done an admirable job (so far), in uniting our foreign allies to provide the Ukraine with much needed sophisticated weapons and other humanitarian aid to help them win this war against a Russian meglomaniac. Yet, like almost all of his predecessors in the oval office, he has yet to figure out how to successfully address our on-going appoach to deal with the immigration problem at our southern border. At this point, I am leaning towards him taking a more dramatic/drastic approach to fix the clearly politicised U.S. Supreme Court.
Once we are past the midterm elections we will know if the Democrats will be able to pass any more meaningful legislation or not. Yet, howerver that election turns out, I hope that very soon thereafter, Joe Biden will announce that he will not be running for re-election. I am concerned that he is, (will be) too old to adequately deal with all of the extremely stressfull issues that the POTUS has to deal with at his advanced age for the next four years. I would really want him to let younger Democrats have an opportunity to demonstrate what they can do.... We will see....

Amen...

My prediction for Nov, Republicans retake the Senate, and Democrats hold onto a slim majority in the House.

The economy/inflation was a ticking time bomb and the Dems got stuck holding the bag this time around. It will be the primary issue for voters and will swing voters to the Reps. Abortion rights are not important enough to female Republican voters to flip them and only a small bump from female non-voters will come out for the election. Dems are trying to swing votes with tuition forgiveness and legalization talk but I think their corporate overlords are going to shut down any attempt at passing legislation. They can't even agree on SAFE, which is a no-brainer.

As for POTUS in 2024. If the Republicans run Trump, the Dems have a shot. If they run anyone else... they will win. If the Dems run Biden, the election will be called by 8PM for any Republican candidate, including Trump.
