I agree with you. I also agree with Bill Maher, the comedian and HBO host of his show “Real Time with Bill Maher” where he was incredulous that now in America, we have to bribe people to get vaccinated against COVID-19. In his most recent show's introductory monologue, Maher said: “They’re giving away college scholarships, free beer and baseball tickets. California is giving away $160 million in cash and prizes. We’re at the Bob Barker phase of the pandemic…All over the world people are dying to get this vaccine but here they got to give you a jet ski first, then maybe they will consider getting vaccinated”. I used to be an avid Maher watcher. Looked forward to Politically Incorrect back before he had Real Time. He's hard for me to watch now, puts off a "holier than thou" vibe through much of his show. I can still watch the round table portion sometimes, but for the most part avoid the show entirely now. He's turning (or turned already) into a lefty Rush Limbaugh.
In this case, I agree with him though... if people don't want the vaccine, so be it. We don't entice people to get other vaccines (though sometimes there are consequences, like no school without shot records). If they have reservations and are willing to take the risk, go for it. |

I agree that Americans should be able to decide for themselves as to whether or not they get vaccinated for the COVID-19 virus. While I think those who are hesitant may have had valid reasons in the past, by now, with so many millions of people who have been vaccinated, we have a pretty good idea of what the side effects may be and what the very small percentage of those vaccinated people who were adversely affected in some way. Yet, I also believe that large companies, small firms and retailers have the legal right to require that everyone whom they employ become vaccinated, unless they have a very good medical, (not religious), reason that can be proven, so as not to get vaccinated. I also respect and will continue to abide by any and all retailers that insist that I continue to wear a face mask if I want to enter their establishment to view and possibly purchase items they are selling. It is just a friggen face mask that is worn temporarily while I am in their store, not a symbol of the erosion of my personal liberties. Give me a break...! We are slowly returning to some semblance of pre-COVID normalcy, but it would be foolish and premature to assume that we are out of the woods just yet. What we see happening in England now, with the Delta variant, as well as the still out-of-control virus spreading in India and South America, should give us all concern that this pandemic is still far from being over.... I am of the mind that this will probably continue for a very long time and that we'll need boosters. I wear masks indoors, 99% of the time anyway, ate at a dine-in restaurant with my parents today for the first time in what 14 months? That was a nice experience to have again, and obviously we didn't wear masks. Our family's habits will definitely change for a very long time, masks indoors, hand sanitizer, etc. Everyone will have to decide on their own habits, whether it be forming new ones or dropping back into old ones.
I don't think it's about people having good reasons or bad reasons for getting vaccinated. I know what my reading, viewing, and experience has led me to do. All I need to know. Their reasons are their reasons whether I agree with them or not. Employers being able to require vaccinations is a sticky wicket. We've never required flu vaccines or any other health care requirement for employment or continued employment. In fact, there are VERY specific rules against discussing any health related issue by employers (HIPAA) without an employees consent. I don't know what the answer to that problem is, but I assume the Supreme Court will rule on it as Houston is providing case law with one of its hospital's staff. Until then... we wait. I support business' right to hire/operate in the way they see fit, but it would be very easy to then discriminate for other health reasons too at that point (obesity, disability, etc). Our society is full of slippery slopes and a certain level of regulation is usually required. :dunno: |

Oil wont last forever and it takes massive and continuous new floods to wake up the Europeans about the damage of global warming. Yes it’s real folks, and it’s right in front of us now. Europe will require zero emissions for all their new vehicles starting 2035. GM announced they will do the same in roughly the same time line. Good thing our old gas powered cars are still exempt from the zero emissions vehicle mandate. |

Interesting scenario to explain why some of us need the government subsidies. |
"The pandemic is now confined to the unvaccinated."
I know we are supposed to be nice, calm, and understanding of people that have concerns and reservations over the vaccine.....But God are they morons. |
