RE: E90 SPRINGS. Pedders in Newcastle did the work (where I live) $800 sounds right, also when I mentioned wheel alignment the camber had to be adjusted front and rear , when the vehicle is lowered the control arm angle levels which pulls the top of the wheel in, so its important to do both.

Hunter You seem to have all the best Mods on yours !
I just picked up a Facelift 3.0D in the same green as Powers (UK colour ) and have organised some mufflers to swap over with the is tips. Where did you get your body kit and fender arches from ? Im still not sure about lowering as mine is already a sports and rides well , not sure if i will lose too much comfort going lower ... ? |

OZ Sport, sorry for the delay I've been to Cooktown for a holiday and no I didn't take my X it would have died a thousand deaths on some of those roads. Ok firstly regarding the fr/re spoilers,www.formybmw.com.au they do require some prep work prior to painting. With the wheelarch flares POWERS1 is now supplying the same "Special Edition" flares which should be cheaper from Euro as I purchased mine from BMW in Canada and freight from there is over 600aud, what width wheels are you running, as unless their at least 9.5fr/10.5re they will look a little odd. You mentioned you were going to fit some mufflers (off a petrol I'm assuming) to your X5d, wouldn't advise it as they are too restrictive in design you can view the mod I did here which POWERS1 has now also done with better results, http://www.xoutpost.com/bmw-sav-foru...lencers-4.html scroll down to my post. If you need anymore info just a post away.

I've driven the roads around Cooktown often. Just the sort of stuff my X with 17-inch wheels and narrow, relatively high profile 235/65R17 all-terrain tyres and standard (ie compliant) non-sport suspension is happy with. Funny how blokes call 17s the 'girly' wheels.

Hey Hunter,
thanks mate , The wheels i am getting are 10fr 11re so I am sure i will want to put the flares on, maybe even the kit ( though i am not sure yet ) Re the mufflers, I got a couple of glass pack canon style mufflers like below ( for $50 each !) and i cant image they would be very restrictive at all and may add a nice extra bit of growl as well , getting them cut in on Tuesday so will let you know how it turns out, for the money, i cant see a better option !![]() Now to just decide wether to chip or not ... |

Hi Oz Sport if you want I can give you some info on the ECU reflash ( not a chip which is limited ) there are some out there who I wouldn't deal with so the right software download is important. The wheels sound great I have the same size and the steering is much more direct which I like, and yes the diesels sound nice with the right mod exhaust plus the other benefits. keep us posted, Cheers.

Hey hunter, I was thinking about Jason's retune ? Alot of people have got it and seem quite happy, but I am always happy to here other options
I am not keen on a piggy back unit that plugs into the loom, i am more interested in a remap though i appreciate it is limited. Im not new to performance upgrades, back in 04 I had a supercharged e36 M3 which required significant mod to the computer system, but I dont really see the need for this car. Are there other good tune options ? |

Hi Oz Sport, yes a remap is definetly the best option with turbo vehicles to acheive the optimum results with the main focus on high torque output which for diesels is the better way to go. These 3.0d's have so much untaped potential mine is ( within reason ) a little rocketship compared to its standard form, and with the improved handling it feels like a brute. This is the Company who did mine they have centres around Aus. Cheers

Hey hunter,
Got the mufflers done, made a fair difference in sound and the car definitley breathes easier. But i can tell it always seems to be holding ( rather than revving freely ) unless i really slam the pedal ! I think its a gearbox issue, just wondering do these tunes help the gearbox changes at all ? I also got my new wheels, angel eyes and xenons , and makes the car so much nicer now ! |
