Read it carefully, not sure what year yours is but the newer ones require BMW Longlife 1 compatible oil and I cannot at the moment think of a 5W-50 that is easy to find in Canada and meets that spec....

I do know the dealer can reprogram the odometer to read in kms, I know this because mine has been switched over in this manner. The analog guages; however still read with MPH as the primary measure...
