Read it carefully, not sure what year yours is but the newer ones require BMW Longlife 1 compatible oil and I cannot at the moment think of a 5W-50 that is easy to find in Canada and meets that spec....

I would think at some point if you have too much Octane you would actually have less power, like if you tried a full tank of 100 I can't imagine you would gain anything though I suppose the computer...
