Yes, with the Key in position 1 and 2 the brake lights are off. Am not sure when the engine is rundning.

I've actually ordered the replacements from BMW....

I've actually ordered the replacements from BMW. They come the correct length and with fittings. Good idea? Have to bend them to shape though... guess you can't have everything :-)

Not sure about disconnecting the module but the fuse is in the back fuse box. Cant remember exactly but its 73, 74 or 75... I think. Its labelled anyway.
