Ok, it's strange that it shows the logo (meaning it gets power) and then shuts off. There is a link between the cluster and Nav like when setting time, checking consumption etc so it might explain...

Have a look at the other sensors just in case. The tyre warning is usually triggered when there is an issue upfront and not when the rears are bad.

I've never had to take the rear ones out and the one issue I had with the front is just a misaligned arm. Hopefully your one only needs a clean and maybe wd40 around the hinges. Keep us posted.
