Because that is what the software is optimized for from the factory... It will adjust though. Pre engine management software cars would not be able to adjust and you would get knocking in the engine...

Actually the octane level does not effect gas mileage. Additionally, your engine management software will adjust detonation for the lower octane level.

I would suggest just buying the part that is on the ML from Mercedes and sticking it on the X5... it'd probably end up looking like it was made for it...

plus you could test fit it before taking...

It isn't the dead weight of each wheel... it is the rolling mass - much harder on the brakes. I don't know for sure but I would venture to guess that a 4.4 ordered from the factory with the 20 inch...
