Can you get hold of some heavy timber - say 10x8inches - as you could build a set of ramps to put the car's wheels to give you a few extra inches? Yes it does need to be level.

If they're darker then that sounds like SPG to me. Mine have a black tint from the 'B' pillar rearwards including the hatch.

I think the green ones are those where the glass is the same light...

Green is the normal glass, Black is the Sun Protection Glass (B-pillars rearwards). If you don't have SPG then it's the Green one.

Mine were replaced on my '05 E53 at three years due to leaking hose end clamps. I noticed that the new hoses have a different clamp design.

I think you will need a brake spanner. This tool is a ring spanner with a slot in the ring which just allows the brake pipe to fit...
