I think that the picture is neither 4.6 or 4.8is. Believe that it's an accessorized 3 or 4.4 because it doesn't have the shadowline trim that comes with the limited models.

$600 is way too high a price for the key, I believe. I got a spare key a couple of months ago and the price was around $130.00 for the normal key with integrated door / rear hatch lock/unlock...

You need a 4.8is. I have a 2002 M Roadster with the S54 engine and it's great. But, I think that the X5 is as much fun to drive (at least the 4.8). I think that the 3.0 engine is not powerfoul enough...

I think that I've had similar problems with the rear door locks. Of course, I never believe my passengers when they say something on my X5 is not working. But, I may have it checked out.

Sorry to hear about your problems. My X5 has been perfect and is a pleasure to drive. I'd driven the old and new ML 500's and they are inferior SUV's, in my opinion. I suggest getting a brand new X5....
