I like the wheels on the Porshe (like all the cars, but since this section of this forum seems to be about Porshe wheels...)

Second warning was yesterday after the dealer had cleared the codes and run a diagnostic, this was again in M mode speed approx 30 mph either light or no throttle, different tank of fuel this time with approx 300 miles left in the tank, both tanks of fuel were Esso Super Unleaded 98 RON from the same station if that makes any difference.

If this warning appeared whilst doing an overtake surely it could be dangerous, we are now worried about the driving it!

Do you think it could be from the 98 octane?

98 RON is about the same as 92 or 93 AKI in North America. Should be fine.

Update for those who have scrolled past all the Porsche photos.

I am now at 23k miles on my 2010 X5 M, with the reduced power issue appearing occasionally for the past several thousand miles. The vehicle has been in three times to be looked at... and it seems though the issue has finally been resolved. No recurrence over the past 2000 miles. The final fix for me was the replacement of a "slow solenoid". It hasn't been too bad, I had the use of a 7 series from BMW of Dallas for the few days they had it, so no complaints on my part.

My rear camera has stopped working for the second time though. Still waiting on parts from Germany. It stopped last Summer too.... Heat related, I think. The last time it happened the final fix was a new wiring harness.

I love my X5, but, a 7 Series or an X5M? Hmmmm. Think I'd take the 7 (Creme del Creme of the BMW lineup). :-)

Now my X5 M is in the shop for the rear camera fix... I was waiting for the parts to come in. Still no recurrence of the dreaded reduced power warning. But now they have given me a 5 series GT as a loaner. Wow, what a turd it is. Spectacularly ugly and poorly performing.

Ah yes, the 5 series GT. I have a friend/colleague who bought one of those things. Yikes.

I'd definitely take the X5M over the 7 series...in fact I did (as we all did). The 7 series is definitely nice but that's a car for me in another 20 yrs or so. Maybe they'll have an M7 by then...then again there's always the B7...
