Recall service scheduled for this Thursday. Another checkmark off the bucket list
|
Thoughts? Reminds me of a London subway "Mind the gap"http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k...psbcuydkfg.jpg
It had a little gap before but now from the driver seat, I can read a magazine without holding it. I should add, they found a tiny oil leak at a guide cover and suggested it would only be around $2,400 to fix... I asked which tech I would be receiving the week-long oral stimulation from along with the repair. I double posted kind of, sorry. |
I hope that's not typical.
|
One other thing I'd like to mention: As they did the inspection on our X with 181k on the clock, they noted the tiniest things that weren't important. The CV boots had cracks, oil dampness on the edge of the guide cover you can hardly see... Etc, etc.
You would think that they might have asked if the timing chain guides had been replaced seeing as how at this milage/age you're driving a rolling time bomb if you haven't. I'll assume that they hoped the guides would fail and boom, new car or money for a new car for them to repair. Never, never trust the salesperson unless you fully understand their motivation. |

When I scheduled the visit, service chick took my vin, deferred me on hold so she would speak with parts, and told me parts told her it's in stock. We have held and tagged it on the side for you, when would you like to schedule a appt.
Fast forward today. Usual check in, SA says VIN does not have ~recall in the comp~ and he asked if I had my letter on me, which I did not. Ended up leaving the dealer, scanned the letter and shot it to him via email and awaiting his initial response of sending this to BMW corp to have them correct on the backend. Apprarently, per the SA, he cannot do the gratis swap, unless their computers says ~recall~ reflective on the vin under BMW NA system. Grrr. A good 3 hrs wasted. |
Well I must be in the minority. Got mine done yesterday made first appointment at 8 AM. In and out in 25 mins. No wash, no complimentary inspection no BS - I told the service advisor just do recall and get me on my way.
Airbag has a bit of misalignment when installed but a few taps of the horn while pressing in the right direction centered and seated it just fine. All in all finally glad it's done. |
I was not so lucky....
2nd Go around. 6:30 appt. Wait. 1st time around, I had my Do not wash Car signs on dashboard and cluster. Totally forgot the 2nd time, as I was just focused on the SA not giving my a gripe and making me do a U turn again. Got outta the shop at 9:20'ish. They washed the truck with a fugg1n broom ;-( Probably won't touch it till after the winter slush is gone. Reseal with Reload and then Hydro top ups in the winter to hold it down. |
How does your bag fit?
6:30-9:20, it took them three hours? |
It actually fits just as the previous. Maybe a slightly larger reveal on the right side but to be frank, I just looked at it front-forward and it did not seem to be to different. I did take note to look at it the day of service.
Could steering wheel potentially affect the overall perception ? Currently running M3 tri stitch wheel.. |
