I am the original owner of the car. In the packet, also was a card to submit back for the *next owners * info to be updated if need be. Don't have the packet in front of me right now, but I suspect for those not being the original owners, you may not be receiving this letter, unless u bought this CPO from a dealer as well ? ?

I have read posts that say BMW uses DMV records in each state to issue letters to current registered owners. Whether that is true or not I do not know.

I received a notification from BMW yesterday that my 2003 4.6is Driver side air bag is recalled. They don't have the parts yet and I'll receive another notification when they are ready.

I received one as well. Same thing..no parts.

Got my letter even though I'm 3rd owner, another letter coming when parts are available

Recall notification is aligned with the latest registered owner/user of the vehicle hence state motor vehicle records.

I just bought my x5 4.6is 2 months ago and at the beginning of July I received my recall letter. Of course BMW does not happen to have the parts to make the repair so it will be a while before this recall has been completed.

As I have not heard I just called BMW. They say 3/2003 & up are inside the recall and my 12/2002 X is not included.
