BMW NA earlier this summer told me that I should expect a replacement around the end of summer/September/October.
|
I plugged my VIN in BMWUSA site - it says remedy available. Just for schitz and gigs, called 2 dealers. Both service depts have advised the mothership has not shipped nor ETA on the front DS bags yet

Welcome back Ed. Seems like you have been back with a E Seventy.

And BTW the experience I had with Acura was marginally better but I still had to go in "register" the car so the part could be ordered. I am still waiting on PS recall remedy. |

I got a letter today stating parts ARE available to correct issue, call dealer to schedule an appointment.

^^Good news! My letter should be coming in shortly, as I'm the around the same production month as you (late 2003 build) -
I wonder how many of us are going for airbag replacement and the dealer is going to use it to try to get us into $3k of repairs or a new X - After my last dealership fiasco I will be probably personally watching the tech replace my airbag from start to finish. |
Yeah I got my notification in the mail yeasterday to set up my appointment. Time for the 4.6is and E39 M5 to get their airbag module fix.
|
RB, seeing that humidity is the culprit that's causing the charge instability, my guess is BMW is addressing this issue based on regional registration records. This recall might not be correcting the problem in VIN order.
