Crack in the lower timing cover where the alternator attaches...
It's in the car... Leaking coolant. Sorry to say but I'm not going to have that first key turn until after the 26th of the month. I feel like I just got dumped, at prom. Pictures when I'm done crying in my beer. |
So, the lower chain cover has a big hollow spot for the water-cooled alternator to fit in and then using bolts, secures the alternator to the cover. @ 2 spots where bolts go in, hairline cracks formed and were seeping coolant. (center of the first picture looking down at the top of the alternator)
http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k...pscwjk9jce.jpg James assured me that While I'm away he'd get it replaced with the lower cover from my 4.4. My 4.4 sold tonight and I'm very happy about that. Spilled milk, I'm over it. "Swipper" the cat however, not so much. I think he was looking forward to a ride. http://i326.photobucket.com/albums/k...psaokcuzxu.jpg See ya'll in 17 days. |
That's unfortunate.
I'm sure you'll get it sorted though. Have a good trip. Looking forward to your impressions of how the 4.6 changes the 5er. |
HAH! I love your kitty as a shop helper!
|
Just messing with you about the brakes.
That cat is like "I can't believe we still not driving it". |
James actually pounded through the repair a little last night and today. He sent me a mms message saying it is fixed, runs and sounds great.
The video was shot in his shop and via text, lacks some hi-fi qualities I'd love to have listened to. I'm tempted to drive over the mountains again tonight for my own listen. It's only 3.5 hours there and back. Plenty if time to pack later right |
