Well, worked like a charm. Tried the MicroSD in USB adapter and it won't even recognize it, but back in front of head unit, all is good. At least I have easy access to media now. Thanks for the help. Now I need to check dash cam settings as it won't auto record over oldest files as I thought it is supposed to.

I did find a setting in iBus app that allows you to auto start a program of your choosing, however, having the iBus app starting in the background would still be ideal.

Yeah, I chose the radio as the start up program in the iBus settings but I think I read the Avant-4 boots the radio automatically by default. Radio is what I use the most for any local errands in the car anyway...

I'll try a USB thumb drive in my USB RCA 3 cable when I get home from Connecticut and if it doesn't work I will try my microSD in an adapter and try it on the USB RCA 3 too. I'll post the results...

Did anyone else notice the Avant-4 is now shipping with Android 9.0 Pie and the price dropped to $399? I sent an email to [email protected] asking about an upgrade path from Android 8.0 to Android 9.0 and a $50 refund. I bought mine just 30 days ago. I mean, really??? :banghead:

Interested to see what they tell you. That's just the way it goes with computers/electronics. An update would be nice tho.

There was a update to iBus today. I installed it but not sure what it does. I'm going to see if there is a change log on their website.

Yeah I gave them an earful. I let them know they had $900 from me for nearly 3 months while anxiously awaiting my conversion only to discontinue the Avant-3 and refund my money. Then purchasing the new Avant-4 30 days ago for $50 more than it is listed now. Also that the 30 day old system came with Android 8.0 not Android 9.0.

I reminded them about the the iGo maps MicroSD card failure and the internal microphone failure having to disassemble everything to go with an external microphone to solve the issue along with buying my own 32GB MicroSD card to load the iGo maps software on it.

I told them I want to remain a customer but I felt they needed to provide an upgrade path and a $50 refund to keep me happy. I even offered to buy the new Avant-4 with Android 9.0 Pie as long as they extended a decent discount.

So AVIN got back to me pretty quick. They don't seem motivated to give any kind of refund or rebate on the price change, nor did they mention any of the issues I have had but did enlighten me on the Android Oreo vs. Android Pie.

We are not sure if it is possible to update the Android 8.0 to 9.0 yet. If it is possible we will provide a guide and post it in our support page. We want to make sure the update process is easy enough that everyone can follow and complete.

All of the UI and features and function are identical between 8.0 and the 9.0 version.

So I did a little research and other than the settings menu in color, I really don't see any difference as they point out. The update has lots of features for the phone as a device, not so much on an Android Car head unit.

Android Oreo vs. Android Pie

Not sure if the upgrade to Android Pie is absolutely necessary but I do like having the latest available technology. We will see what they come back with.
