Well got a burst of "let's do this" this morning and I should have verified the part number before removing the old unit. Went to put it in and found the dimensions are different. Hmmm, a quick part number check and sure enough, they sent me one for an E38 7 series. :banghead:

On the bright side, the AVIN Avant-4 DDVR app got an update for ADAS lane departure and collision avoidance. Last version had a Chinese lady telling me to pay attention. Now we have alert sounds. Much better.

I have a few questions for you, now professional e53 audio gurus.

1. Does this come with carplay out of the box. I have an Iphone. Plan is to keep iphone.

2. What did you guys buy as far as accessories. And did you have to buy from them specifically. Like, will a USB dash cam from another brand work?



I'm trying to compare these things with the capable features and prices. Thanks.

Happy to advise you SlickGT1 but I need a little more info on your X5.

1. Do you have factory DSP?
2. Do you have factory navigation?

These options add a little cost to the overall price but necessary for correct operation.

There are several options I have on mine but I did them over time and not all at once so the money drain was easier for me to handle.

The cost of the Avant-4 PX5 with Android 9 is currently at $329 at Avin so that is the lowest I have ever seen it.

To answer to one of your questions regarding the dash cams, theirs is $65 for HD 720p front and 480i rear and offers a pretty stout app to go with it to record video all the time, playback video from within the app, and my favorite feature of lane departure and collision avoidance alerts.
