Seems to be some sort of software issue. I'm unable to code DSP per these instructions using IBUS-App: https://support.avinusa.com/hc/en-us...l-Update-Guide

INPA/DIS/Bimmercode can talk to the DSP, turn it on, etc. No error codes stored. When turning on DSP using these apps, the hissing sound goes away.

Is everyone else able to code their DSP using the IBUS-App? Are you able to read data off it using IBUS-App?

I tried a couple of times to read the factory DSP settings from within the app but I could never get the read function to work. I didn't press the issue since my DSP and Avin are working fine and I had the mid, not nav, to begin with. Thought it was odd though. :dunno:

I have raised the issue with IBUS-App dev on their facebook page. They're asking what DSP version INPA shows. My X5 is at the body shop at the moment and unfortunately I didn't save that info. Do you or any one else have their DSP version info as shown by INPA?

NCSDummy and NCSExpert worked perfectly. I coded the DSP module value to "Controls: mid_basis" and verified it. Clearly, I-BUS App has a bug in coding the E53 DSP module. However, it is able to code LCM and PDC.

Hi Everyone,

Full disclosure, I'm an E39 M5 owner, but came across this thread as it's one of the few sources of knowledge info regarding the Avant 4 - so thanks for all those who contributed!

I'm posting because I've been stuck in my installation of the DDVR for almost 2 weeks. Regarding the 3-pronged wiring harness (that takes inputs from reverse camera and dashcam, then outputs to the head unit), Avin sent me an incompatible harness. I've been trying to get them to send a new harness, but instead they've taken two weeks to change the installation directions, which do not help as the connectors are not compatible with the reverse camera.

Does anyone know of the name of the wiring harness (circled in my attached picture). I'm looking to just buy a replacement from ebay/amazon/etc. but none of my searches are yielding any results. I appreciate any help you can provide - thanks!

If you mean the one that says "to reverse camera in head unit", that looks like a standard Few p!ug.

The harness circled is part of the DDVR camera system. If you are using their DDVR system then you should power the reverse camera all the time the key is on so you have the ability to record and view the rear camera anytime the car is on. I wired my rear DDVR camera power directly from the AVIN head unit and grounded it in the rear. No reverse power is needed.

Thanks - I've wired the reverse camera in the similar way: grounded in the rear, and powered from the headunit (which unfortunately means the LED light on the camera is always on).

However, the DDVR harness that's circled in the picture is not what came with my unit. It has different connectors and therefore unable to connect to the dashcam/reverse camera/headunit as shown in the pic and described in this thread. I'm trying to acquire the correct harness, but can't seem to find the correct keyword/term/name to successfully search for it so I can purchase it on my own.

This is the one I got from AVIN as the DDVR system. If this is not what you got from them, send it back and get the correct one from them.

Yup - that's what I've spent the last few weeks trying to get from them. I wasn't having any luck, hence my attempts to purchase it from another source.
Avin finally sent me the original harness. Looks like the new harness is meant to attach to a different style of reverse camera that does not have separate power(black or red) and video (yellow RCA) connectors; rather it has a 4pin connector seems to combine both functions.

I'm not sure if it's just COVID-related, but their support has been abysmal and extremely slow. Thanks again for everyone's help with this.

Geez, I've gotta be blind. I've compared your pic and Overboost's SxS and the connectors (end of cables) look the same to me. What am I missing :dunno:.
