I'm thinking about Latitudes as well. I think they very close to Diamaris when it comes to look and I can get them about $200 cheaper then Diamaris. I'm talking about 20 incher. Please give us your feedback. Thanks.

Have you noticed that nearly all the ebay auctions for X5 wheel sets (e.g. AFS) come with Toyo's? My suspicion is because they're probably cheapo tires. If I could find a set of 4.6is style 20's with the Mich Diamari's I'd buy a set in a heartbeat.

My personal preference is to run factory tires...I would NEVER put something like a Yokohama or Toyo or Continental on my X5. When it comes time for me to replace, it will be the Diamari's only.

I have to tell you I had Toyo Proxes on my Expedition which is a 6,000lb truck. The Toyo's were fantastic! Not loud at all, great tread life and great traction. To each his own but that is my experience with the Toyo's.:bmw:

Speed Rating
Tires will only be installed if the speed rating is the same or higher than the speed rating that the vehicle manufacturer equipped the vehicle with from the factory.

The Latitudes are Rated "106" while the Diamari's are Rated "W". I assume the W is higher.

Also, I checked prices at Costco and see $543.98 for the rears and $437.98 for the fronts (incidently, they have the front's listed twice, once at $218 ea. and once at $252 ea. - not sure why...)

I usually don't take part to your discussions but as I'm in a new tyre choice, I think I can add a useful comment !

Michelin (yes it's french !) is the standard tyre for the 4.6, and was especially built for the car as there was no existing tyre for SAV in 20' dimension. So I consider it's THE reference for this car.

Everyone has to keep in mind that the 4.6 i has an S for Sport !
Then if you think about sports tyres, don't think TOYO !!!

I have Michelin in the front (275/40) and Pirelli (yes, Mr DINANM3 ;) ) at the rear (315/35) : they are P ZERO Rosso and it's an amazing "glue" tyre for the car. BUT, as it's not a tyre for heavy sports car, I can see part of the structure (synthetic cables) of the tyre before the 'gum' wear : too many side efforts, I think.

So, my dilemn was Michelin or Yokohama : I decided to order Yoko because it has good owners'opinions and it's 2/3 the Michelin price !

In the end : Michelin is a very good tyre, but needs to get hot to be efficient. If I couldn't find Yoko, I would have put the Michelin again.
You can also find some Continental or Goodyear (Wrangler F1)... but I think they are not so good, but better than TOYO !!! :rofl:

Seems like a lot of people are down on costco and I don't understand why. They have all the advanced equipment (including nitrogen fill), with very good prices and warranty. Is there some reason I shouldn't trust their techs as much as the ones at tirerack or any other tire shop?

Are the costco haters just being pompous/arrogant and have extra money to burn, or is there some 'real' reason not to go to costco for tires?

Well, I have nothing against Costco. They make profit on a volume and kill many smaller dealers/retailer when it comes to margin. I was in computer hardware industry and was loosing some of my retail business to Coscto. They make 1%-3% margin and I just couldn’t compete with that. For me this kind of margin was not healthy. When you look at them from end user / customer perspective, I don't see any reason why not buying there.
