Hi all! What you guys are talking about is very interesting! I bought both GT1 head (the yellow one) and the OPS head (the orange one) from eBay. They are working very well with my DIS v55 amd SSS v33. But only one problem makes me feel very uncomfortable, that is the BMW officially approved battery charger, in the SSS, it clearly says connecting to a battery charger is a must before coding. In Realoem, I found a BMW battery charger with part number 61432154949, I wonder if this charger can be used for coding cars. Can anyone provide some help please?
By the way, GT1 head works very well on my 12/2000 made X5 4.4i, but does not work on my 04/2008 made e87 120i. When I connect the yellow head to my 120i, it promps up with message to ask you to use OPS head (the orange one). When I use OPS head to connect to my X5, it promps up with message to ask you to use GT1 head. Interesting.

The E53 does need the DK head for the interface, and the E87 will need the OPS head. That is normal and just due to the software integration level of the vehicles. You will need a charger with an output of 30-45 amps for coding, especially with the E87. The E87 may also need the MOST bus fiber optic interface cable hooked up th the OPS head to do anything involving the radio system.
The better chargers to use have selectable output voltages and output amperage on power supply mode... I think Jose got one like this spec'ed to match the deutronic unit BMW uses at the dealer, maybe he could point you in the right direction.
