Yep.

You connected under steering column or connector in engine compartment?

Under steering column.

At first I thought maybe the diagnostic bus on the car was hung, but having brought it to an indie dealer, they were able to connect without any problem.

Like I said, I also tried connecting to a 2000 E46, but same thing, can't identify or connect to modules.

Try connecting in the engine compartment of the 2000 E46.
I have seen it where sometimes it won't connect and I have to switch to the engine compartment.
Are you getting any errors about battery voltage?

mccabema 12-12-2009 01:34 PM

There is no connector in the engine bay of the e46.

It's the e65 I need to connect to most. Yes I do get a battery low warning, but it is my understanding that this will not interfere with a connection.

Yeah, the battery low warning is pretty much there to remind techs not to kill the battery in the diagnosis process. You should be able to just click continue and wait for it.

How long are you waiting at the blank grey screen? On the E65 it sits on that screen for a few minutes as there are a lot of control modules being identified... If you give up after a couple minutes you just might not be waiting long enough.

Hi,

No I wait until it times out by itself.

GT1 connection is good.

After this error, I can enter manually-but doing so is no use as there is still no connection made. If I try and connect to a module such as the AMP, this is the error I receive.

Like I said, indie dealer can connect no problem to this car so not a problem with diagnostic bus.

I notice on the screen picture that none of the modules are highlighted black, which means they were not self identified. Which head/cables are you using? It may be a problem with the firmwear/software in the head...

After a number of failed attempts, I "Updated" the head via DIS.

GT1 from China. According to DIS-

DIS Programme V 56.0 (04/02)

Progman V31.1

DIS Software DAS V5131_P

Basisi-CD V52.0

GT1V 52.01.01

DISplus V 52.01.01
