Romeo - yes the spoiler at the top of the rear window. 5 minute job to take the top of it off (the painted bit). It looked like the spoiler could also 'creak' against the rear window. May be worth jamming something between the spoiler and the rear window to ensure you dont have this problem. My noise sounded a bit like a plastic creaking noise, but only on certain roads with quite small bumps.

Well, I've isolated the 'clunk' noise to the latch on the rear hatch. (as suspected!)
I put a small square piece of cloth on top of the tailgate over the latch recepticle for the hatch (so that when the hatch closed, the cloth wrapped around the latch and slipped into the latch opening, cushioning all of the internal workings) The cloth was thin enough so that the hatch still latched securely.

When I hit the offending bump (that causes the clunk EVERY time) this morning... nothing. So it definitely must be some part of the latch assembly that clunks over certain types of bumps.
Now I just have to figure out if there are any particular bits that I can muffle with felt tape to keep things quiet ;)

Yeah, I, too, have that occasional clunk - also the rare 'trunklid open' display - from what has been described here, it may be from a 'sloppy' fit in the latch - I have not made an effort to track down yet - will pass on any success when I do - tried the felt pads myself with some success, but it's far from a complete cure

The felt tape worked like a charm :D

I strategically placed it around the latch where it rests right up close to metal inside the opening on top of the tailgate (the felt is thin enough not to cause any issues with the latch slipping right in) and voila! 2 days over the magic bump without a sound. :woot:

Let me know if a pic of the felt-padded latch would help...
